actually it all depends on how much money and time you got ^_^
if you got the time to play ryzom now, and the money to buy it. then why not?
on the other hand you might be a bit more impressed by the game after the patch, but then again there will always be patches ^^
sorry, cant help you with making a decission, but do ask more questions and ill try to answer them ^_^

Not exactly sure what type of answer you are looking for. Are the non-job type quests in game yet? No. Does the game have some bugs still, yes. And as you have read patch 2 (in about 5 or 6 weeks) the game should really start to take off. However the way I look at playing it now is this...
Chances are that to get to a lot of the really good content in Ryzom when patch 2 comes around your character is going to have to be at a certain level. Not only will it have to be at a certain level but it will also have to have certain faction standings with certain groups. In addition when the time comes and guilds become more important, being in a guild that actually has itself built up will be a huge advantage. So why not buy the game spend the 5 or 6 weeks reallly learning things, building up your character, building up your factions, learnign game history, finding a guild and just basically getting really comfortable with things?
