You should be able to run it regardless the location you placed the files. The only difference may be, if you are asked to run the program with higher privileges or not.
Ryzom need to be able to write to the installation folder to be able to start.
When I start the game on my system Win7 64bit (installed in D:/Program Files (x86)/Ryzom) I am asked if I want to allow the program to change files on the system.
