I accidently bought a medium vest crafting plan. Considering I normally play a mage type should i re-roll or is the situation recoverable (I'd only waste 4 hours of play)?

If i did a mistake like that after only 4 hours of play, i would probably reroll.

Depending on what your crafting focus is, it could be useful though:
The more mats a piece needs, the more exp you will get for crafting it. Compared to light armour the medium vest uses a ton of mats (Well, it's 6 armour shells, 5 linings, 4 stuffings and 2 clips ) and can be used for fast levelling.
You'll also have something to use all those ragus, kipee and izam hides/shells for.

No big deal if you ask me and no real reason for a re-roll. It only means that you'll have all light armour plans at level 18 instead of level 15 or so, that's the only downside to it I can see.

Wrong skill point allocation is easily recovered in Ryzom.

Most trees have over 20,000 skill points between levels 1 and 250. 50 or 100 "wasted" probably won't mean much in a month or 2.

Depends...are you planning on being a crafter part time, or at least leveling up the craft trees past 50?

If so, medium vest is actually a pretty good way to level in the medium armor craft tree - large amount of mats means fairly good exp. Just means you took something early on that you probably would have taken post-50.

Also, if you're a Matis there is a nice craft mission for a single medium vest that will net you something like 10k dappers once you hit the mainland.

If you're not planning on doing any crafting at all and are just going to use the tree for points for things like focus and health and self-heal, you might consider rerolling after only 4 hours in. But then again, if this is your first or second char you will almost certainly reroll anyway, so might as well play on, find the mistakes you made, and then reroll after.
