The Trykers starting faction is the Karavan. Will taking mssions from the Kami (which also lowers my Karavan faction) have a negative effect either directly or indirectly on a Tryker guild ?

I'm not sure what other effects there are.. but it seems that Kami/Karavan fame has a bearing in the ability to use Kami/Karavan ports. So a tryker going Kami fame would lose alot of ports in Kami lands since most cities only have Karavan ports.

This is what I've seen so far

Yes and no, depending on your goals. Taking Kami missions will obviously lower your Karavan fame. It will also lower your fame with other naturally Karavan aligned factions, impacting your sell/buy pricing with vendors and the protection your receive from city and faction guards. Fame may also control which respawn points you can access (has anyone actually changed their Kami/Karavan fame drastically the opposite direction to know?) such that you could lose your Karavan respawns and only have access to Kami respawns. There may be other content related ramifications but as those are still coming I can't make any constructive comment there other than if your guild fame mimicks a Kami aligned nation (Fyros or Zoraï) then you could likely have equal content access within those continents.

Most of that is the negative but if the goal of your guild is to be Kami aligned, then is the price too high? That is something that you will have to decide.

Any homin can use any Kami altar or Karavan teleporter to buy teleport tickets and it's important to make the distinction between the two. Teleport points are equally useable by all if one buys a ticket but respawn points are limited by alignment. Kami aligned homins can only use the Kami respawns (Fairhaven, Pyr, Dyron, Thesos, Yrkanis, Zora, Jen-Laï, Hoï-Cho and Min-Cho) and Karavan can only use the Karavan respawns (Fairhaven, Windermeer, Crystal Bell, Avendale, Pyr, Yrkanis, Natae, Davae, Avalae and Zora). All homins can use the continental link respawn points equally (links to the Prime Roots, Nexus Minor, and the continent to continent link points - Burning Desert <-> Verdant Heights <-> Aeden Aqueous).

ah.. I stand corrected. I always seem to confuse the respawn/port point thing.
One thing though.. every port (Altar) I've found in the Prime Roots, and Borderland areas of Aeden Aqueous won't allow me to purchase a port. Is this due to fame? are they broke? or were they never meant to sell ports?

I've heard similar rumblings from guildmates on this. Fame doesn't impact purchasing tickets, price nor availability. That does not mean that level doesn't impact the ability to buy tickets but I'm not positive on that. My suggestion would be to send in a bug ticket. It's best to stay there until a GM contacts you so the location can be marked but I would also include the location using lorgerol's method (http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2097 ) just in case you can't meet up with a GM.

Are you targetting the altar/machine first? Use ctrl-space to do so and make sure there are no other friendlies you can target in front of you otherwise it will target them instead.

It is currently bugged that this is the only way to buy a teleport ticket.

Our folks are all well versed in this (you have to be if you're Kami aligned ;) ) and are reporting the problem with some out of the way locations.
