Man, this game takes forever (well, 4:37 actually) to start up. I reboot before I play, I keep my hard drives defragged, I'm not running on a super wahoo game machine but it ain't a dog, either......what's the dang deal?

I play WoW as well, and it starts a heckuva lot faster.

I don´t have the faintest idea why this may happen to you.
But please, next time refer to the Technical Support Forum first.
I´m pretty sure people will help you there.
Maybe do a catchphrase search?

Loads slow for me too, but I figured that it was my connection (dialup) and the fact that I torture my connection by running two clients Tried three and I am sure my isp was about ready to kick me off forever.

It may be a bit slow to load compared w/ other games, but at least there's not a snowball in hells chance of ever having to queue.

Go get yourself a drink while it loads... makes the waiting seem shorter.

I did....no joy.

enter in game, press shift+N and check your ping and packet loss...

I know that "loading time" somewhat relies on the amount of Data that has to be loaded with a character login. For example, with my main character, with full packers, apartment and Guild house and of course bag. Including markers on the map, it takes about two to three minutes to login. And that´s nothing I´d be angry about.
With twinks that don´t own nearly as much, it take a considerably shorter time.

Though, strangely form time to time it takes longer to login. But only rarely. Once every few weeks maybe.
This is time from hitting Ok on character screen until full login.
Funnily the longest I´ve waited for a login in any Game was in AoC.
It took about 10 minutes every time I played.
