Ryzom

It would be great if someone could create an iPhone app that allowed you to chat with players who are in-game similar to the Klients CeB chat. It could also have news, event info and links to the official forums.

In addition to the usefulness of the app, listing a Ryzom app on the iPhone store where millions of people browse for new stuff would give the game some much needed exposure. Hopefully it would prompt new players to explore what the game is all about if they've never heard of it before. It could bring new subscribing players to the game, populating the servers.

I'm sure this would have to be done with the kind permission of the owners, if it's not already something they plan to do on their own. I'm sure there are enough programmers who could make something like this happen. Hopefully someone with a passion for the game has enough spare time to donate to such a project. ...if its even possible? Unfortunately i don't have any programming skills to undertake such a project. I suppose my ideas are limited to marketing and gameplay situations.

Could it be done? Would the owners approve? Would anyone be willing to do it?

I guess the problem is how to access to the chat logs / send chat / authenticate yourself if you want to participate. I could imagine an expansion of the Ryzom API to provide such features. Would be indeed a nice thing, also for other programs.

Would love to read/chat with players from PCs where Ryzom does not run e.g. netbooks or similar small devices.

Like my blackberry ? I could be online for my guildies although I wouldn't really be ingame... way to make me miss Ryzom even more !

Still, it would be a good way to help out new players with questions, etc.
