Herbivore vs carnivore drops.

Post by rodrigoq »

Why do herbivores have such crappy drop rates for mats? You can go out and slaughter any level of goari or clopper for a few hours and have a full bag or two. Go and slaughter Ragus, bodocs or any other herbivore for the same time, and you'll get maybe 4-8 counter/grips. So much for trying to get mob mats to grind with..

You must have strange ragus in your land (they are very much a predators with predator drops) ;)

Anyway, I agree. No idea why it was originally introduced, perhaps as motivation to hunt aggros. This could backfire with the introduction of the player vendors - obviously skins, lining, counterweights, magic foci will be in very high demand (aka pricey), because the low drops while blades, shafts, stuffing and armor clip will be overabanduant with low prices...

This issue should be reeluvated.

Player vendors aren't really owned by the players. When you sell stuff to vendors like you do now, the inventory is stored for up to 6 days so that other players can buy them instead of the items just disapearing.

Agree it is frustrating when you're looking for herb. skin armor mats and you often end up with only 1 or no usable mats at all. Hope they don't cut down on the aggro drops as a "fix" though.

Carnivores drop more and take a long time to kill, herbivores drop less and are easier to kill. Its a trade off, you want to get xp fast or money fast? You choose really.. Dont tell me you guys didnt notice this little fact :) If herbivores started dropping what carnivores did, omg at the excess mats and money that would be around.

I think we need a skill HUNTED ANIMALS materials gathering ..

Tree branches ... Agresive non agresive

further branches .. Plants, animals insects, lizards

further branches animal peaces so like in harvesting you can specilize in certain parts ...

you can use this in attack formula so that if you attack with AIM at legs you never hit and destroy precious eyeballs etc ....

One thing i noted is absolute lacking of LINING materials that are droped exclusivly from herbivores and plants ...

Plants are suicidaly resistent until jewelery is fixed and finally offer elemental resistance as promised ...

Your point being? There will be a lot more predator/kitin mats be sold than herbivore mats - the nature of player vendors doesn't changed one thing there.

This "little fact" is incorrect.

Some predators are pretty tough - but so are some herbivores. I can kill in the matis lvl 50-100 zone Javings, Kizobars and Kipees (Kitins have the same drops as predator-mammals) as fast as the mammal-herbivores, no problem here. The Gingos there have a lot more HPs, of cource, and take considerably longer to kill - but so has 1 race of herbivores there - Rendors.

By killing the right targets fast xp AND fast money is no problem. Exept if you want to train your crafting with the mats, too, because getting the mammal-herbivore drops takes a lot of time - it is generally more practical to hunt predators and kitins only and sell some of their drops to buy the mat-types you still need from the shop.

This "little fact" is correct.

As well as because they simply aggro. Ever tried resting in the mids of a bunch of Cloppers ? you can do so with Rendors :)

As you say , Kizoars & Kipees are easy to farm, but they belong to the Kitins family, not the Carnivore family that Jclifton is mentioning.
& as such they don't aggro ( except some very high level types)

Anyway my point is :
The drop rate is pretty well balanced for carnivores & herbivores, but should be tuned down a bit for non aggressive Kitins ( Kipees , Kizoars especially )

Just my thoughts
