what changed?

Hi everyone ... Just recently downloaded the client and logged in - things seem kind of the same at first glance, except not too many people seem to be playing.

I was thinking perhaps spending some more time in Ryzom, but not sure what the major changes are. Can anyone do a quick post on the "state of the union"? and major changes to the game since 04/05?

Check this out. http://forums.ryzom.com/showthread.php?t=34102

The short and not so sweet answer is: Not a lot. The only major changes around when you left or just after have been the fame system, outposts, and the Ring.

Cue the fanboys to argue otherwise... ;)

Sadly, no argument.
As always, we can only sit and wait.

smaller additions (hides from Jayce):

jackpot wheel (poorly implemented)
fireworks (great, but too rare)
Faction PvP with honour points and rewards
1 handed and range fighting reworks
new mob bosses and NPC bosses (implemented in 2005)
mounts (again added in 2005)
Factional PvP zones, one still exists called Altemi Woods, but isn't used ingame
Fame rework, to make factions more independant
Encyclopedia, special missions with rewards, half implemented
Brand new starting area called the Ruins of Silan
XP catalysers, produced at outpost, or won on the Jackpot wheel, double XP

I was going to beat you for even mentioning the wheel, but the RoS saved you. It was a good addition which I forgot to mention.

ouch.
The sadly / not much answer is what I was afraid of.
They implemented fireworks ... nice; how about bringing the phoenix back, after all, it was in beta and people begged for it :)

The sad part is that the stanza and crafting systems are far better than what I have seen in any other game. I just wish the rest would build up on that.

There doesnt seem to be a lot of people playing anymore -- did anyone notice if the number is going up or weeding out?

Definitely going up on Leanon, hope its on Arispotle too.

One thing though, what´s wrong about the Jackpot-Wheel?
It´s pretty "realistic" in my opinion.
You mostly win useless junk even if you go and dump millions of Dappers in it.
Just like at a real fun-fair ;) :p

No, but for real now, please tell me what you mean by "poorly implemented"?
Its´nothing but a Dapper dumb. Wasn´t supposed to be anything else, and doesn´t pretend to be anything else.

It´s ignorable and that´s about the gist of it.
Or isn´t it?

Just curious.

P.S.: And btw. the Fireworks are some of the most real looking and beautiful I´ve seen in any game so far. And most diverse.
On special occasions, just THE thing! :)
(Horrible Music on that Video, but a good look at the Fireworks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plSTzp2tc4k)
