Hello and welcome to Ryzom :)

Sorry, but I always find these kind of questions quite funny ;)

"Good" is such a subjective way of seeing things.
And to explain if a game is "good" always calls for some more words than just, "yes", or "no".

Well, we Old Players who´ve been playing since release or Beta almost six years ago, will probably say it´s "good", or even "great".
Many newer Players, who are inclined to compare it to all of the new Games out there will probably state "good" out of a wish not to be rude, or just say it´s crap.
Because it hasn´t got some features the new games have.
Others will like it despite that, or just because of that.

But what it´s got is many other nice things that can be much fun and provide extremely good gameplay and opportunity to learn things can be different from the mold of mainstream games out there and still be fun to do.

Take a look at this thread and decide for yourself.

Its a big old wall of text and I´d like to advise you to read all of the "bigger" posts in there, because they provide a good overview of things that make Ryzom unique and playable, or not. It´s a bit outdated, so the point about "Invasions" doesn´t apply right at the moment, but most of it still holds value and will hopefully answer your questions :)

And if this can´t convince you or is too much, just give it a try and decide for yourself. :)

Some like it, some don´t.
That´s the way it is. ;)

Like it has already been said, "good" is all up to you, but here is what I found:
Ryzom was my first MMO, and I have found that it has spoiled me. I have tried other MMO's since and have found that Ryzom has spoiled me. The fact that you are not required to do quests is great. On the starter island it is very quest based, but thats just to help you learn the game. (I would advise doing all of these quests by the way, you learn alot and get some fairly decent gear out of it.) Once you are on the mainland, the game gets better, and there are only quests to do if you want them. There is nothing that is instanced, even for these quests. Like, you are told to go dig x number of y material, and it is a special material, but it is always where it is, you can find it one day, and it will always be there, whether you have the quest or not.
Sorry, I got into a little bit of a ramble there, what I'm trying to say, this game is great, and I hope you give it a fighting chance. It takes a little while to get used to the system, but once you do it is very easy to do and you'll find yourself not wanting to go back to other MMO's.
