Mouse panning speed?

I currently have my mouse setup to "free look" when holding down the left mouse button. When holding Right mouse button, it's like freelook, but you can actually steer your player without the use of keys. Many many games have this functionality and for the most part it works. Here's the problem.
When I start to pan to the left or the right around my player model to "turn", my mouse will suddenly go into a tail spin. I'll see if i can better explain this:
If i pan slowly to the left or right, the camera keeps up perfectly. I can do a full rotation just fine if i move nice and steady. The problem happens, when i try and move the mouse in one direction TOO quickly. It's really not that fast, but when I'm running in one direction, and i want to pull a quick 180 degree turn with the left mouse button to see if that Gingo is still tailing me (while still running straight), the next thing i know, my mouse will OVER compensate and instead of going the normal distance, i'll find my camera doing a few 360's around the player. It's actually sickening to watch.
Sometimes, when I'm using the right mouse button to "drive" and move at the same time (holding both buttons), I'll steer gradually left or right and again, that overcompensation thing kicks in, and I'll end up steering a complete 180 degree right into the direction i was trying to run from! These aren't "fast" mouse drags, they're normal speed, nothing that would trick the system into thinking i really wanted to move that fast.
It doesn't do that for any other game. Mouse is a corded G5 with optional DPI changing. I've played around changing DPI settings. I've played with all of the mouse settings in game and tried both hardware and non hardware mouse versions. Still happens.
I tried, (i truly did) to find more threads on this kind of thing, but the most i can find is people who's mouse won't even show up. If you can link me another thread or have an answer, I'd be grateful!
