Just wondering about something. I was thinking of maybe going laptop instead of upgrading my old Desktop because I have other needs that would be better served with a laptop. But I am wondering what would it be like playing Ryzom on a laptop.

So if you play Ryzom on a notebook or laptop,

1) what is your hardware configuration ?

2) How well does Ryzom play ?

3) Any constant problems playing Ryzom ?

4) Had any problems at all playing Ryzom (if you fixed the problem, tell us how) ?

My laptop:
Intel Core Duo Processor T2300 @ 1,66 GHz
NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7400
2gb RAM

I can't play on high settings but it looks good enough. I think anything with a Nvidia card works (never owned an Ati).

The most problematic thing is that my wonky WIFI keeps disconnecting me, but I don't think I can blame that on the laptop. Oh, and playing games in the sofa with a warm laptop on the belly makes me fall in sleep too early in the night.

Play on my MacBook Pro while traveling.

2.16GHz Core2Duo, 4MB L2 cache
2GB DDR2-667
Radeon X1650Pro Mobile 256MB
WinXP SP3

Run everything maxed. No problems.

*cheers Jon*

Macbook
Bootcamped Windows XP 32-bit
Dual 2.2 Intel
4 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

I use this when I travel and play at lunch. I do not recommend this set up by any means. There is a major problem with displaying the toons armor/water/things with a lot of detail, this is with the graphics settings turned completely down.

My laptop (3-4 years old now):

Alienware 5700 with 17 inch 1900x1280 screen
Pentium M 1.73GHz
2 GB of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
ST910021 AS SCCI Disk 100GB
Running Windows XP SP3
Verizon FiOS hi-speed broadband internet connection

Ryzom runs well once loaded but it takes about 4-5 minutes to boot up the computer and get into the game. I definitely read that message more than twice about upgrading processor and/or ram, usually 4-5 times. In game I run with all graphics set to high with no problems. I rarely experience lag - usually only when others are complaining about it too. That's the only problems I've had other than the long time to get into the game.

If I try to multi-task with Microsoft Office products things can get bogged down.

yeah, playing sometimes ... when bored @ work or somewhere in the middle of nowhere on the road

CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7700 @ 2.40GHz
RAM 2048 MB (still got a 4 GB set lying around, just to lazy to put it in)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT (512 MB)
Resolution 1680x1050
OS Vista64 U
Disk Drive WDC WD2500BEVS-22UST0 ATA Device (232 GB, IDE)
Internet UMTS

runs pretty fine, will probably run even better with 4 gig of ram

no problems occured so far :)
