Neverending Night

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but for some reason the night sky will never go away! The sky will go through it's normal day routine but once it hits night it just stays there. The landscape continues with the normal time cycle unhindered, so I'll see the terrain lit up bright as day under a midnight sky.

Here are my specs, if they help at all.

ATI Radeon 9600 128MB
512MB RAM
AMD Athlon 1.3Ghz
Running in D3D mode.

Try to use different video modes.

heh. Come to Zora. It just rains so much that you can never tell what time of day it is. There is a distinct reason why we all ran pell mell for the margarita laden beaches of Tryker!

/Hongo removes his sunglasses, and returns his Pina Colada back to the small table under his wide beach umbrella.
"Hey! Its not all fun and games here, Mister. I nearly died from exposure yesterday when I fell asleep in the sun," He angrily replies,"..and just look at this sunburn. Owee."

I am having a similar problem. In my case the sky dome is not be drawn at all. I have tried both the d3d and OpenGL.

When I try d3d it flickers between a black screen and the current garbage background image. When I try OpenGL it displayes the current garbage background image. If I move, move the cursor or close a window it leaves a trail image on the back ground.

I was wondering if anyone else was having problens with how the 'sky dome' was being displayed.

WinXP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
RADEON 9200

I hade this problem in EQ when my clipping plain was closer than the objects trying to be drawn, mainly the sky dome. This mostly happened when I was using floating well above the floor plain and the floor plain wasn't being drawn.

Try adjusting your sky options in the in-game settings. I'm not in game right now, and going by memory, you have a few items you can adjust which would affect the complexity of clouds and rate of refresh as well as a few others.

I hope this helps.

Ryzom doesn't play nice with ATI cards.

I was using an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and had these problems.

After switching to an nVidia 6800GT, no more problems.

Also, people have mentioned that for ATI cards, use D3D and for nVidia cards use OpenGL. I have to use D3D on both cards as OpenGL doesn't work on either.

I realize switching vid card brands is not really a solution, but there you have it.
