Pull: Ryzom in Linux : ATI, NVDIA or others ?

I have an AGP ATI 9600XT video card and been using Linux variants for 1-2 years. During that time, I have come across a limitation of my card: no official ATI support for Linux. Reducing my original plan of using my Windows games under Linux (currently on Ubuntu 8.10). I have low graphic performance.

This is just an intro to the real purpose of this thread. I want to see amongst all who are able to run Ryzom under any kind of Linux, vote which video card you are using and tell us in a reply the Linux O/S you are using.

This is just to get an idea of who is having a better result and which card brand is being used the most.

Ryzom is running fine under Ubuntu with NVidia cards :) (6600 GT, 7600 GT and 8600 GT).

Debian sid (wine 1.1.13), Nvidia 9800 GT. Use the "Linux Display Driver Version 180.06 BETA" for best 2d/3d performance (the latest stable is crap IMHO).

(PS: Please add your Test results and votes to Ryzom@Appdb.winehq.com)

Hello,

First of all: My Signature isnt correct anymore (if i werent so lazy i would update it ;) )

I run Ryzom Under Slackware 12.2 with a nvidia 9500GT (yes i know its an 8600GT but it was really cheap)

using the 180.35 driver... The Performance is quite OK...
I tried ATi under Linux in the Past (im around with Linux for 10 years now, and the last 2 of them without windoze), but the drivers are still nearly unuseable (for 3d games in Linux).
I was Hoping that the Catalyst 9 Seires would be much better (i always though a major jump in is marked by a new Version number) but i think there is nearly no Progress since 8.whatever ;)

All my mistypes and grammar faults are under GPL, so you can use them for your Post ;)
