I was wonder how is the population and if its worth coming back yet or if I should wait a while till it grows more.
I tried before very unique fun game. I did not get far so I think I would start over again.
But I'm a kind of person that does not see many others online I panic and get bored ;(

Quitting about population is paradoxical.
Join a guild.

This is the best time to find out is while the game is Free! I went on a few weeks back at diffrent times and the population in-game was thin on the ground and most of them was AFK but hey maybe its going to pick up a bit now that some old timers are coming back.
The only way is for you to find out for yourself and get back on Ryzom and see how you feel once you have been for a week before the subs start to kick in.
All the best!

If everyone adopts a wait and see attitude, then the game will never flourish.
If you do return, you may think there is nobody else playing, thats because most people are in guilds and out hunting with their guildies.
Be careful of what guild you join, here is a list of guilds and a post on Choosing a Guild is on the same page.

Hope you decide to give it a shot

Think there is any point starting over rather then resuming my old char... Not sure anything even how to play.. I got 2mil currency and ton these odd items lol..
Maybe best I start over on a new char hen once I learn and understand go back or just transfer things over?
Also there many people in the start zones?

Yes start a new character to get reaquainted with the controls and revert to the original when you are comfortable.
New areas are pretty empty, you will be lucky to get a team tbh, I know that sounds very negative, but its true
The game is pretty guild focused in both getting equipment and teams, on saying that, if you need equipment, just ask in Universe chat, people there will be happy to help you, if looking for teams, ask there too as its not confined to just one region.
Happy Hunting

Actually there is now only one starter island. The way to make sure you have someone to team with once hitting the mainland (if you don't want to immediately go the guild route) is talk to those on Silan (the starter island) and move to the mainland as a group.

From what I've seen Silan is generally very busy, whereas the low lvl areas on mainland are less so.
