A Christmas Gift

Hi everyone,

As you know we are now at the end of the month and so we have returned to the delicate subject of subscriptions. It was always our intention to give you a small free period over the Christmas holidays to thank you for sticking by us during these troubled times, but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control the billing has taken longer to return than we expected. Because of this, we have decided to give you the entire month of December for free as a little Christmas present from us. :)

This means that the game will stay free for everybody for the rest of this year, and we will start afresh in January ! We hope that you will enjoy this present from us and participate in some of the events that we have planned for the near future - you'll hear more about them in a little while, don't worry ;)

Wishing you all a great Christmas and a New Year full of happiness :)
Thank you all for being ever-present for us and Ryzom.

Did I hear Christmas events ? :D Or was my imagination combining Christmas and "near future" (TM ?) in a false interpretation ? Either ways, I'll be attending with my candy cane. :D

Events! *happydance*

If they are Christmas-themed, I hope they have roots in the lore, unlike previous Christmas and Halloween events. Those were fun, but annoying to a roleplayer due to their complete lack of justification in the Atysian context.

Gah, another example of when being right all the time sometimes stinks. I love how they try and sugar coat it. :p

Let me get this right, you're complaining that it's still free....?

Or did I completely misunderstand you (wouldn't be the first time ;) )?

Nah, you got it. I know it sounds strange, and no, I don't really have money to burn, especially at this time of year.

However, that being said, these guys don't exactly scream "We're Loaded!" either(With all of these volunteer programs and what not). So it seems to me the sooner they start taking our dappers the longer Ryzom will stick around this time 'round. I mean, these servers can't be running on thin air, and if they are, they can spend the cash on some freaking content. :p

Maybe they are loaded :D
That's why we can play for free :)

Personally I would rather pay and get some bugs fixed, a little content added than play for free.

I am sure there are people on these forums that could help them out with arranging online payments (even if they are not good for credit) providing they were straight with us.

It like they bought a car, got the engine going (big kudos for that btw) but they don't know how to drive it or where to go after they learned to drive ;)

Let's think a little: for Christmas the market expects gratuities, sales and gifts, Kotor soon released, war the same, wow has some expansion, people took their time to play fallout 3...

I don't know how many difficulties occurred to make the game a business again but transforming something free in a merchandise right in december in this context might have not been a good idea wether they decided it or were forced to it.

Otherwise yes, it needs to become a business again if we want to see things moving forward, but we all agree about it etc etc.
