RyZine - Web and Paper

This is similar to Psychee's offering, but it sounds like they are interested in a solo project to promote their comic book. This idea will incorporate and organize the amazing storytellers and artists that grace us with their presence. We have seen their work in the forums, and it's very inspirational.

* The cost of this would be organizational time and web space.

* It could be brought into operation with just one or two people, but can utilize the skills of more.

* The main goal will be to review submissions and choose items that fit properly within the Ryzom universe and lore and make editorial adjustments. These will be both graphic as well as written offerings.

* These Items will be posted to a website in the same fashion that was seen with the Matrix movie site and the current Heroes tv show site (the main sites I've seen that incorporate this). When enough entries have been gathered, a physical magazine can potentially be made available via a Publish on Demand basis.

Peace,

So, suibom2, would you volunteer for leading this project? Or is this just a suggestions?

Interesting.

Do you mean shortstories and fanart?
I could quite easily include a Fan-Fiction Section into my Site. :)

I am interested in volunteering to lead the project. There are a number of resources to pull from, such as acridiel's site and the forums here, for starting content. The project would need to get the permission from the creators to republish the items. Acridiel, would you be interested in helping?

My concept is to organize the various stories (both written and hopefully a decent amount of graphic stories) to a site that would highlight the story of Atys from the perspective of its players. The difference from sites like Acridiel's and the forums here is that this project would focus on pieces that meld and mesh with the lore of the game to increase immersion and interest in the game environment. This would require one or more editors (including project lead) to review the stories to ensure cohesion. Not to say it will be overly strict, but it will (in my concept) have a definite focus and will work towards exploring the history and lore of the game in anthology fashion.

The format of the site will be such that it will lend itself to the content being eventually published physically. When enough content is gathered for a release, we could publish a physical zine which could be sold to benefit the game. So artwork would need to be of certain resolutions and stories will need to be at least a certain length before considered for the physical publishing, but it will be an ongoing process with, likely, serialized stories from regular submitters. I will probably be offering my own work for this as well (both written and graphic (if I can get my drawing chops back :P )).

If there is interest in this project, I will start a path to contacting folks who have contributed work before and see if we can get the ball rolling.

BTW, this is a temp account I had to create due to my primary account being unsubbed. My primary account is suib0m.

Peace,
- Sui

Of course I´m interested.

Only thing is, atm I´ve got LOADS of RL stuff to do and too little time for anything else.

The main question I have right now is, and I'm not sure it can be answered due to its absence from the main site, will the game be continuing on with the lore that has been laid out in the past, including the events that lead up to the outposts and the postings by Tidings and such?

I suppose it doesn't matter tooo much yet, as at this point the framework for the site and print will need to be worked out, but it will definitely need to be known at some point (which leads back to the main forum posting http://forums.ryzom.com/showthread.php?t=32625 ). I plan to have an Atys history timeline and link stories and events in them to the timeline.

If anyone is interested in helping out with this project as an editor, basically reading the submitted stories to make sure they are printable and to fit them in the timeline, please post a response to this thread. This would mean that you are familiar with, or willing to learn, the lore of Atys and its peoples.

Peace,

Are you planning to have ingame Event reports like MVG used to do on Aniro with Screenies and all ? Also, for Ryzom art, there are very talented artists producing Ryzom related art. You can find their work on Deviant Art. Comics, portraits, pictures... I even saw a card game. There is a group called AtysArtisansUnited that regroups those artists' work. Should check it out. ;)
