Very interesting. I chanced upon a similar meeting of Timaris quite some time ago. When they noticed my presence, they immediately dissolved the convention and went on to do more Timari-like things. There were no other animals around either, so maybe that was just the beginning of something we're yet to find out about...

Interesting vid.. I have noticed herbivore mobs doing strange things as well.
(not to mention the seemingly increased detection range of aggro mobs...)

Thanks for the laugh
Ani,
Ps: we've seen this behavior for long (Iwould not call it "bug",maybe optimization with unintended visible side-effects feature)... apparently, it seems that the AI server is responsible for this behavior. afaibt the spot you found is a "herd spawn spot" (other packs spawn more or less separately). From there, each one follows a given path. I was told, a while ago, that the server may "sleep" entities or maybe it's a rare bug that's triggered rarely. (The former makes a lot of sense, if you can stop animating entities to save power and resources... it's a bit tricky) if /when after some time, no "player" has been in the region....

Personally, I've seen this a few times (even, for example, in PR gates with yelks),
Of course, a dev chat could explain things better or correct this urban legend if needed

Nope its not, as Iphdrunk explained. Which is known to me too, its a resource saving thing.
This was just the only time I happened to have Fraps activated and spotted the spawn before I ran up to it. It happened before to me and others.
As long as these Spawns are "out of sight" (i.e. out of the max. distance. clip you´ve set up in your config.) they stay put to save ressources on your machine/the server. When you approach them beyond a certain minimum distance they "wake up"/activate.
And it just looks funny
I called it a "bug" because thats simply shorter than to put this whole explanation up into the clip.
