I have been playing with RR tonight and trying to get things working and altho it is a fantastic tool i feel that it would be more accessible if i could follow a youtube video. So calling all you directors out there how about it?.
I think something very basic to start, like a take item and give item quest. which I'm sure could be built apon and soon we will have Homins queuing up at the Terminals.

I think this is a good idea. The Ring does lack documentation/guide's/demo's etc.

I was playing alot in the ring, but recently I noticed almost nobody is interested in scenarios I host and what's even worse I'm alone in the ring channel. Kaetemi, Xtarsia and all the others we exchanged hints and tricks are gone.
It's not really fun to create something all alone. And another thing to add, people who can play because of the new free for all politic but aren't fully subscribed e.g. due to payment problems can't host ring scenarios (get an error message) and also can't join ring scenarios (no message, but just doesnt work).
The ring is pretty straight forward, I personally never had a tutorial. All you need is to load up the example scenarios provided by the game and read all descriptions of the functions that pop up.
It is a very light and straight forward learning curve, however once you want to do evil stuff like puzzles or dynamic things e.g. invasions it gets pretty rough because of missing features that have to be emulated somehow.
So don't be shy peeps and get on the ring, you can ask me (Arcueid) anytime ingame about the ring, I would love to help where I can and also test scenarios!

*cough*
I made one awhile back, for GF... they turned it down as not necessary...
I´ll see if I can find it, or recreate it someday, it if it was lost in my HD-Crash.
But, honestly, most things are pretty easy and self explanatory.
Only thing I have trouble with, is remembering the order of sequences and events in the sequences.
So if I´m about to do a larger Scenario I´ll draw a chart first.
"Who does what, when and why"
It helps!

I have a low level Ring Scenario, and the auotinvite function is broken. I get lots of interest, and then cannot invite anyone

I think this is more a time problem than anything else. I check the Ring terminals several times every day but never find a single scenario up. Meanwhile I hear people say how they run scenarios for a while every day but nobody ever joins. So, we must just be missing eachother then, which is hardly surprising: I don't want to spent all day refreshing the Ring terminal waiting for a scenario to come up, and neither do I want to spent all day sitting in a scenario waiting for a player to come in. I assume that goes for everyone, and thus we're all missing eachother.
If they can't give us the option to host a scenario without sitting in it, it would be nice to at least be able to see the list of scenarios from anywhere, so we know when one is up without having to go to a terminal.
That the new free accounts can't even play Ring scenarios is a huge shame though.

I think that used to be possible via some (probably leaked) command. I say probably leaked because I think you could join from anywhere as well which is just asking to be exploited. If they could bring it back but remove the join function so that we'd still have to visit a terminal to actually connect that'd be sweet.

It was, and you could.
Yes, I was thinking you'd still have to visit a terminal to actually connect, but I was also thinking a more compact window than the one you get at the terminal would be nice. Something you can leave open at the corner of your screen while you go do other things.
But bringing it back without the join function would suffice.
