Optimizing the network

Hello,
I don't know if this kind of information was ever posted, anyway I think it can be very helpful to solve some network inefficiency and get the best experience in your surfing and gaming.
Everything applies generally and it's not just related to Ryzom.
What you need to optimize your network connection is TCP Optimizer
The full documentation is here
I'm not going to explain every single step, because the documentation cover every aspect of the tool, but I just want to point out some few things (only Windows XP, as I don't have Vista)
The default TCP settings in Windows XP is too conservative. When I bought my broadband connection of 20 mbps (ADSL-2) I started some testing, using a London-based server as an end point, because I was not satisfied of the connection performances. At beginning, I was never able to go up over 2-3 mbps, despite the declared available bandwidth, but, once I discovered and used the tool, making different tests, I ended up to find what were my problems:
- packet fragmentation is your main enemy (can cause many packet loss)
- rwin must be set in the right way.
Now, doing my tests with that London-based server, I always get something like 12000-14000 mbps! Here you can see my last results.
Since then, I am mostly 'Please Wait' free in game (except very few moments, but very very few) and all my surfing are pretty well. The changes afftected my connection in general, so I benefit from it in other games too.
I hope this can help people having bad performances and many 'Please Wait' in game, despite in my personal experience the game runs pretty smoothly all the time.
Because this cover only Windows XP, can any experiended Vista user add more suggetions here?
