Problem with loading after character select

After connecting to the server and choosing my character, the game brings up the loading screen and starts loading fine, but after getting to the penultimate 'bar' on the bottom of the screen it stops completely and just sits there forever. Not even the message in the top right hand corner changes.
I played fine yesterday, but when I tried to log in this morning it simply refused to work. Running on Vista with two gigs of DDR2 RAM by the way, but it does the exact same thing in compatability mode for XP, service pack 2. Any suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of short of a reinstall, which I'd like to save for a last resort.

tis something to do with firewall settings I think,
try re-booting your router and having another shot, otherwise get hold of the support team as this ones happened for a few people and I'm sure they can sort it

maybe renaming/removing Ryzom/save folder helps. (your interface/landmarks are there, so be warned)

I was having this problem and tried pretty much EVERYTHING any had ever suggested and still no dice.
When I disconnected my router and connected directly to my modem, boom, no problems whatsoever.
So the problem was my router, but it wasnt a port issue, it was a umm DHCP problem. Essentially, when I reconnected my router, it forced a refresh of all my ISP's info like DNS, IP, and stuff like that because I noticed most of those numbers were all different.
So if your using a router and having this problem, try running direct from your modem. If it works, just going back to the router should force a refresh. Or, I know most Linksys routers have a "DHCP Release" and "DHCP Renew" function under the last header "Status". Click "Release", wait a bit, then "Renew", possibly reboot everything, and you should be gtg!
If your not using a router, then it's either a firewall issue, or you need to release/renew your pc's connection to your modem.
"Start, Run, "cmd.exe", cd\, ipconfig /?", then look for the instructions on how to release/renew.
If that makes you queasy, Im pretty sure you can accomplish the same thing by totally powering down your pc and modem (pull the power cord out of both), disconnect your cable comming out of your PC to the modem (just on the PC side) wait a minute, plug your modem in FIRST and letting it boot up fully, plug your cable back into your PC, then start up the PC.
