Semi-Noob

Hey all! Semi-newbie here. Played the trial before the servers closed a while ago. Came back when I heard they were restarting the servers because I really am getting a little bored with the main-stream MMORPGs out there. I love the game world, at least in the starter area. It's beautiful and pretty wondrous with all the animals and people running around. I have actually spent a couple hours just running around checkin out all the flora and fauna of the land. :D

I do have a question, as I am a bit of a lore seeker. Does (or did) Ryzom have a descent lore/back story to go along with the beautifully crafted world? I have heard that there is a descent amount of lore in Ryzom. Though I have not found much, I am hoping there is more in the mainland. That's one thing I really did enjoy about EQ2, was that there was always a story there, and, for the most part, it was decently told. Some descent lore that fleshes out the factions and tribes would be the perfect topper on this game for me.

Certainly sounds the game for you. =)

Yes, Ryzom has good lore, or at least, it did...
Over the years it was revised several times, and now it seems to of disappeared. *sad face*

Whether or not the new owners will bring it back, who knows. But for now I'm sure you'll still find homins that remember and are willing to tell you a story or two. :D

Ryzom won mmorpg.com's readers choice award for best story once, so yeah it was here, but unfortunatly since dissapeared from the site,

see this archived version of the site for some of the lore

http://web.archive.org/web/20060103205042/http://www.ryzom.com/

*disclaimer* this may or may not be relevant to the game anymore, we have no idea what the new owners intend to change as far as the story goes.

The lore used to be one of the more interesting aspects of this game. At least I think so, and if you happen to see me ingame, please feel free to ask. I can talk for hours or maybe even days about that ;)

[Have to admit that I don't spend much time on Atys now, because I am still waiting to see what the new owners will do. But if they keep the old lore and we get to keep our characters - I will be back.]

Most of the links on the above site go to pages in kami-alliance.info's archive of the pre-new-owner website. A few go to pages within ryzomlore.110mb.com.

Another former trial player here, debating coming back... have the new owners of Ryzom expressed any changes in the lore yet? I'd feel a bit silly learning the old lore to have it all changed on me within a week or two :)
