Title: Raise the level cap on Silan*

Why is there a level cap on the Free Trial Island when the game is not even open to the general public?

After two days dealing with the client download and finally getting in game this morning I feel overly disappointed. I've already reached level 21 on two of my favorite skills, and realized that there is nothing more for me to do on Silan. There is nothing for me now to keep me motivated. I can't go to the mainland, I can't subscribe to the game, I see no point in completing the other missions, and I definitely don't want to start another character and do the same missions over and over. Let’s be realistic, if I wanted to play a quest driven game I wouldn't be here.

If I sound upset is because I am. :P I set my hopes too high and now I see them falling. I only hope that what ever grand comeback is being plan won't be too long before I finally lose interest. I really want to play this game. I've been waiting since January [points to register date], to play and not for the lvl 21 restriction. Even my dogs get better bones.

Consider giving us refugees a better bone and raise the level cap. Thank you.

Agreed!

Like others have said, with the level cap at 21, that means more than half the area on Silan is rendered almost inaccessible due to high level creatures. It's really kind of cruel.

If you want more people to join this game, a game that's supposed to be about freedom of choice, you need to at least let the newcomers feel relatively free by letting them see all of Silan without having to worry about being one-hitted by angry higher-level critters.

Not only that, but 21 is just reached too fast! It's hardly even a taste of the gameplay.

C'mon, please raise the level cap to 50 :)

>< OMFG! If I sound upset it's because I am.

The game is just starting to get back online and you're already whining you're not getting your even share.... This is still test, is the impression I am getting and we are lucky to be getting into Silan at all.

Now I understand it would be super nifty if they did raise the cap and I was hoping so myself, however you are being imo melodramatic about the whole thing. Asking nicely and politely for something is awesome, but throwing a nice little fit with the standard threats is just annoying.

You've been waiting since January? There would have been a very good chance that none of us would be playing this game at ALL. The new people in charge have been quite busy putting everything back together, I'm sure a tad of patience and respect isn't too much to ask while requesting for something.

Honestly...

My post annoyed you? Then it was good for you to let it out and state your mind, because that is exactly what I did.

First of all, I’m not whining my dear, I’m pointing out that there is no point to playing in Silan with a level 21 cap. I reached the level cap in just a couple of hours. Maybe you are okay with rolling a new character every day, and repeating the quests everyday until the billing system is back. I’m not. Obviously I got all I’m going to get from it. I choose to stay out until the level cap is raised or the billing system comes up.

Second, I didn’t make any threads. I spoke my mind, if in the time that it takes the new administration to bring back Ryzom to the public I lose interest it’s my prerogative. I doubt me not being here will make a difference.

Third, English isn’t my first language and I may not have expressed my self in a way you may consider polite but I do have manners.

And finally, since we seem to be lecturing let me point out to you that I’m not a little girl. My eldest is 22 years old so mind your language. Plus before you get melodramatic on me again try to see the humor in my post and try staying in topic. We are talking about the level cap on the free trial, not me.

Sincerely…..

Please, please, let those of us with un-subbed accounts pay our fees and get back in :)

I know you are working on it. I'm just getting desperate :) haha!

Very sorry, but none of what you said sounded like humor to me. It was more of a give this to me or else, which if you look at how long it has taken them to get things together is a bit premature to give an ultimatum of any sort or level. It you only meant to suggest and not demand, then it's my overreaction that went overboard.

Everyone wants to get back in one way or another, and yes raising the cap is a very good idea, but let's not be surprised if it doesn't happen before the billing system comes back up, if it does then great!

The question of raising the leve cap is discussed on all boards at the moment.
Oppinions vary but most agree that it should at least raised to 31, or even up to 51. We´ll see if the new Owners respond well to our ideas.

My disappointment yesterday was based on my experienced from troubles with the client download to reaching lvl cap sooner than I expected and not knowing 21 was level cap. I couldn’t even complete the amps crafter quest I was doing because I still need to craft some more to be able to earn skill points and train the plans to make the amps. Of course I can't do this because my crafting skill is lvl 21 and I can no longer earn XP.

To me crafting and harvesting is the best feature out of the many other great features this game has. Now, running around on the island and talking about the wonders of cheese is fine and a good laugh but I want to play too.

I know the game is still in some kind of beta stage, the administrators are taking their time to get things right and that is great. I’ve seen bigger games do less for their community, but while the veterans enjoy all features for free those of us on Silan are limited to fully experience the free trial. No, I’m not saying they don’t deserve to play for free, they do.

What I’m saying is that it doesn’t make any sense to keep the free trial at level 21. It’s like throwing me the bone to chew on instead of a nice juicy stake. The stiff level restriction makes me feel like I’m being punished for being new to Ryzom. (I can’t help it I’m very sensitive :P ). Seriously, like Acridiel said I’m not the only one talking about this and some changes should be consider if the billing system isn’t available.

It kills me having to say No every time I log out. (Rolls eyes) I never had to beg anyone to take my money before. Anyway, please consider raising the level restriction for us on Silan. Thank you.

The original intention was without level restrictions, but for some obscure marketing reasons or something I guess they had to add those in.

When the game was first launched, Nevrax strongly recommended that players have at least one skill at 50. I think by having the cap at 21 players are being sent a message that they are ready for the mainland prematurely.

I suspect some of the frustration of the brand new account holder was due to not being able to walk 15 meters away from a mainland city gates without being squashed.

I do think an arbitrary level cap on Silian is counterproductive. The Island by design has one already in place.
