I am currently too busy re-installing EVERYTHING on my PC. I had reformatted my 2 HD.

Barely finished installing windows-XP with some of my games.
Currently installing Fedora-9 as one of the multi-boot O/S ==> installed and done updates
Will be installing also Centos 5.2 ==> installed and doing updates on it now
Open Suse 11 ==> installed and did updates
and Ubuntu 8.04 (personnal usages) ==> next one to do
and Ubuntu 8.04 (diff partition just for remote office usages) ==> next one to do

Why am I doing this ?

I am taking a step further to move away from Windows and into Linux. I am still keeping Windows because of some games not running in Linux (am aware of wine and Cedega but my video card is having problems right now in Ubuntu) and because of 3dmax. I am planning to use Linux for my main work.

Doing this, I threw away about 30 DVDs !!!!

p.s. : the other Linux O/S are just to get used to them as my current job might lead me to become a system admin (if I choose that path)

Wonder if Ryzom will ever be made to also run under Linux ....

If you want to be a sysadmin you only really need RHEL/CentOS and/or debian, and just maybe OpenSuSE (which is quite similar to RHEL/CentOS anyway). Noone really uses Ubuntu for anything serious, and it has such a bad reputation that putting it on your CV actively discourages some sysadmins from wanting to interview you. Mostly when I am interviewing I am more interested in people comfortable in the *nix environment, with in-depth knowledge of specific applications (e.g. Apache) and good knowledge of security principles rather than distribution specific knowledge.

Ryzom runs reasonably well under Linux assuming you have a nVidia-based card and a motherboard with a well supported chipset (Intel are often a good bet). You will get a bit of a framerate drop however (circa 20% standard, can get this down to 10% or maybe even 5% with some optimisation) - Linux was never designed around 3D gaming and it does show.
Happily its somewhat aging graphics engine means that it works rather better under Linux than some newer MMOs (e.g. LoTRO)

Thank you for your informations.

I installed everything. Noticed that because Centos and Fedora are using the Anaconda installer, both messed up the Grub boot list but since I installed Ubuntu last, it recognized every partitions and fixed everything.

I also had on top of that, to change my computer case and power supply. I had ordered both last week and they arrived on wednesday. I finished it yesterday but had to drop setting up connection to on CD-Rom because my tower is a full one compared to a mid before and my IDE cable (old motherboard) was not long enough to connect both my DVD Burner and CD-Rom.

Downloaded the VIP Ryzom installer over the night so tonight guess what I will be tonight ? ;-)

My choice of Ubuntu is simply because it is the first Linux O/S I touched and because my company where I work (IBM) started 3d projects (like OpenSim which they publicly announed a while ago) a few months ago and one of the Linux base they are using for this is Ubuntu. I want to get involved (one other job path I am thinking).
