Things We Would Love To See Added/Changed

How about a friendly lil' thread full of ideas and suggestions for development?
Please no wild/crazy or sarcastic stuff - don't want to put off anyone from Spiderweb who might read it ;)

so... starting with:

1) The ability to link items with their stats in chat. One of the only things w0w really gets right... would make talking about gear a ton easier.

2) A way to "write down" a recipe - after filling the slots in the crafting window a button to record the mats used - allowing you to keep better track. By actually crafting the item it could record the resulting stats as well.

this leads to

3) The ability to Name items - put a crafter's mark on those works of art. Would also make picking out your armor from the apt inventory faster.. but not as fast as:

4) bags/boxes/armor stands - just some way to keep sets of jewels and armor together - making a set 1-click change would rock too.

and then theres:

5) sections or "shelves" in apt and guild inventory. That list of gear, mats, cats, and flowers can be pretty long... why not have a better way to sort things?

6) If SW wants to raise the value of the dapper - here's 2 easy ways:

a) have a Apt/GuildHall item merchant, selling furnishings, pictures, maybe even paint for personalizing your home. I know I would spend a fortune on some decently Tryker-sized chairs for my home in the forest :)

b) vendor mats - if those basic grinding mats were available up to q250 It would link our two forms of currency. Suddenly all us rich crafters would be nearly broke again, thanks to our OCD grinding :D

Just a few suggestions... not sure how much trouble they would be to implement. And maybe the very last would be a bad idea... could result in some major waves :P But I for one would love to have a few of these goodies.

P.S.
7) Shockwave should make yubos bounce ;)

Sounds like a nice idea.

Hehe, all these 3 were on my suggestion list in my first week of playing Ryzom years ago. Selling sets of armor for example adapted to a certain proffession (best combo for ranged fighter for example... ehhh, by the way where is Sehraci???)
An ingame notepad would be soooo good... almost as good as multiple recipients email :P

Sounds nice.

They are not nice they are splendid but... not easy. Implementing a totally new system of player housin with furniture etc is developping for months and hiring a graphic artist at least, plus a lot more work for the server. Honestly if all goes wonderfully well I don't expect them doing this in less than a year, and I'm an overoptimist.

The number of crafters (who are not so rich in Ryzom, for rich people you have to look at boss campers) is decided by the need of the population and the fun they have working their proffession. A good part of the game is digging your mats slowly and progressing accordingly. It is part of the fun.

Going master too fast would also debalance the needs of the middle characters who won't find anymore lower quality gear on the vendors. I'll never forget how nice was to flood the vendors with LA lvl 120 for example and see it all sold in hours. One suggestion that comes to mind here is an email system to let you know who bought what. Buying annonimously breaks any possible link between the aspiring crafter and his customers.

Last I checked, still in CoV. And probably too busy with RL to notice the forums returning. Don't worry, will be back if Ryzom does come back up. :)

Or else... -_-

Carry on.

I've posted this elsewhere (link):
There's one thing in particular that I believe would liven up gameplay quite a bit, and change some habits: move the mats around at random, for example once or twice in an Atys year. The Q50 areas should be left as they are for convenience, but all others would see significant location changes. Seasonal characteristics should not be altered, but the location, radius and resource size could be made to change (by random number generator, so there's no gripe about manual changes putting such and such at a disadvantage). Ease of access of certain, better mats depending on Faction regions should be honored, for consistency.
I've come to agree with those who responded to the idea that once or twice a year may be too often, but I think this kind of regular change in the map would really make life on Atys more challenging, and less monotonous, for all hominity.

If the missions/quests are recreated, it may be a good idea to:

1. Add a compass direction to what you're looking for. Sometimes some of the missions do this, but if you're out looking for a hawker that moves at different seasons, you spend hours typing /tar whoever into your compass.

2. Adding more lore to the missions. I noticed in guild wars (and maybe WoW?) that a lot of the times, lore is included in the missions you do. I know this was sort of implemented on Silan, but it's still pretty lax on the mainland.

Adding lore to missions/quests is a great way to learn about Atys, without spending hours staring at page after page of documents on the Ryzom homepage to learn about the lore.

In regards to housing:

3. I would love to see housing implemented like it was in Asheron's Call. You bought a house, and were able to decorate the inside and the outside. People could visit, see your house, have a cuppa or whatever, and it was a great way to show off things you worked for.

4. Not just having apartments. In going with the idea above, slightly, being able to find a cozy little place in the middle of nowhere would be fun. There are some regions of Atys that don't get aggro at all and would be a good place to "build" a house. Or, at the very least, let people build outside of the towns, kind of like suburbs.

Another idea from guild wars:

5. Templates. Guild wars has a smaller "skill bar" than Ryzom, so they have templates. Which is pretty much, you save a certain set up that you have and can simply press load "name you gave template" and you have that old set up (which also saves the attributes you have set and everything).

We dont have the problem of needing to change our skill bar frequently or our attributes. But we do have the issue of needing to change our gear/weapons, etc. This would be a great way to change into what you need, if in your apartment of something.

This could also be used as a way of organizing into "boxes" or "shelves" or whatever.

IMPORTANT!

6. The readdition of Kitin Patrols. I only experienced them at low levels in PR treks, but man, it was so much fun. You went on PR treks expecting DP. But the real fun was trying to sneak around them and the other PR enemies, or run really really fast to water...

I enjoyed the Kitin Patrols because you had to be knowledge to go into PR, or be with knowlegable people. This encouraged people to learn more about PR and kind of made PR a place for vets.

(this is not to say that I think there should be an area only for vets, but I think certain areas of the game should be really hard, and give people a reason to want to learn more/level up.) PR was almost like a "end game" thing. PR=the regions KP were in, not all PR.

Those are just a few things I wanted to get down before I go to sleep.

Yes, I know some of these would take a good amt. of work/time/money, but the title says things we would LOVE to see added/changed.

There are plenty suggestions in the forum, I just hope the new owners got the time to read them all.

Just a few answers to kama:

1. I agree

2. sounds nice, not sure if it is really practical but hey, why not?

3. I agree, and i wish to name also my animals (if they are still alive somewhere :p )

4. I agree. The ability to get grouped sets of jools and armors (even thre ability to sell a full set, instead of the single parts) should be really ingame soon

5. Uhm, I think inventories already got filters, so I didn't understood what's the difference. Maybe just add the level range filter similar to the vendors.

6. I agree with the Faa answers, but I wanna point out that we already got the Ring. I think it should be possible, with some rework, to use a subset of the ring features to implement custom apartments, custom guild halls and even players cities. They are already instanced, so should not be too hard to make the changes to adopt the Ring system for that. Just, remove the quests builder, remove or partially remove mobs builder (maybe some yubo pet could be fine to have into :) ) add some furniture, enable the apartment/guild entrance similar to the ring terminal without the list of scenarios. For player cities, considering you can have a substantial ring builder, we could imagine to have portal points spread over the world, maybe unlockable with some specific Guild Rite. The main editing features are really already implemented in the Ring.

Some answer to Keiko:

generally i agree with your points. Just to add:

if you are speaking to have permanent housing, i think it should be nice, but Atys need more lands to accomplish the demand. Also, that behaviour need some rule to setup, as what happens if a house is abandoned because the player is no more playing, etc... Everything can be done (VG has full permanent housing/guild halls) but need some hard work to do.
About the templates, I agree, but I want to remember that the simple idea to have a way to memorize our custom actions (as pointed by me and many other players in the past, just do a forum search) should be the first thing to do. It would be really easy to implement a 3rd tab in the 'action progression window' to drag and drop custom actions, because the drag and drop code is already there (just working in one way only from the action window to the hands-bar).
Just put empty boxes to be filled with the action's icon and a special box as a recycle-bin (or just leaves the right-click context menu as is) and save them on hard disk.

That's all, cu soon(tm) in Atys :D

I was thinking about the Ring and guilds villages (or cities even) for a long time, when the Ring was advertised a lot and we expected it to be launched. I also hoped to use it for private pvp encounters, like leaving it open for teams to come and raid if they wanted (and could handle it hehe). In TS this was one event we dreamt for some time.

Have a big area differently customizable , give your guildies the rights and let them create their own small areas (regardless to the fact that each of them can have his own) - just a guild controlled area, guild life benefits quite a lot from collaboration in organising a space.

In SWG we had our own city, with shuttleport, cantina, theatre, a certain organised architecture, town hall, bunkers, militry base... name it. The community has lots to gain from working together to build up such a place. I guess there's no one SWG TSer not to remember the night when we got under attack and about half the server came to the war (lol half a server ment hundreds of people and real fat lag).

Anyway as the Ring works now or not works to be honest, I have no hopes for the next year to see it functional. However parts of the tools it had can be reused to make a player area customizable.

It has been brought up before but I would like to see a new quest system that is tied to the nations/tribes/cities. I think that a new quest system (outside of the encyclopedia) should have the same sort of approach as the temple event. Quests that are not designed to be completed by an individual but by groups of players.

Some quests could influence a tribes or cities fame regarding either faction or nation, some could be used to increase the tech level of a certain item. Meaning that a nation or tribe could develop a technique that would make a certain type of equipment more durable or efficient and pass that information along to its closest allies. Some could open up NPC patrols that would allow for safer travel from one point to another.

There could be quests to upgrade guards, including those used in outposts. I have always disliked that outposts guards are tied to the region they are in and not to the allegiance of the guild that controls it. I think that a guild should have to hire and support the guards it employs. The costs would be lower if the nation and faction are in line with the region. This could also help with balance, after a certain point if there are to many guards of one type the costs would become unsustainable. If the guards are not paid, fed and equipped they diminish overtime, eventually abandoning the outpost leaving the property to revert to NPC control.
