Ryzom

I had the game installed on my computer before, but I deleted the install, and now, when I try to run the installer, the background process keeps crashing. I'm on dialup, if that matters at all, but aside from that, my computer does meet all the specs (Windows XP)

Help?

one of the download servers is down so you either need to modify windows hosts file and add "91.121.7.176 dl1.gfsrv.net" to override dns...
...or you may try this (you need java 6 for that one). You probably only want to install Silan files, so make sure you enable background downloader too.

probably running "ipconfig /flushdns" in windows and then trying again gives the working IP for download server (repeating few times if neccessary)

i am having the same problem and with lan i downloaded java6 and it didnt work so i updated java6 and it still doesnt work

Is it possible to dl Ryzom somewhere else?

interesting.... what didnt work exactly ? did it run at all ? (you need to run urdm.jnlp with java webstart)

I'm trying to use the Ryzom Downloader and it just sits there at 0% and says 'Check data'

I've also tried the link for urdm.jnlp and that starts to work but does not download the files. I can see the files, and the first two download 1% or 6%, but then I get nothing.

I'm at a hotel using their broadband, could the problem be a firewall?

log window is tell something maybe...
.. or you may download and save uRDM_v2.jar to windows destop, then start->run "cmd" as command and to command line "java -jar Desktop\uRDM_v2.jar"... if it's unexpected error, then it should show a lot of info. send some/all of that to my pm in here and i'll see if i can fix it

if you get that that file (should display "637 v1.637"), then firewall should not be a problem (for installer anyway)
if you get "Connection Refused" then it might be bad IP (server has 2, one is not working) or firewall.

OK, I added the line to my hosts file

I downloaded and ran the uRDM and it runs with no errors, but it still does not download. It just sits there saying: "Downloading 2 file(s), 0.0KiB/sec, estimated time left ??.??.??

did you tried official installer after you added the working ip to hosts file ? as there is now only one ip it sees, it might work (just dont install it to "Program Files" like the default suggests).
you might also try older version of uRDM(v1) (plain, simple, linear and ugly)
and lastly, you might try this again and select "debug info" from options before you start. download thread should fill log with lot of useless info

if none of these work, then i'm out of ideas as uRDM (v1 and v2) work on my XP and Vista. i'm runnning single cpu... maybe uRDM_v2 fails on multi-cpu's (cant see how)...

i'm having the same problem, spent more than a week working on it. have come to the conclusion that i will not be able to download untill server #1 is back up and running. i am in the usa and think that server handles the usa
