Goals

Hey all,
as many others I've been out there trying on different games. Nothing has the stuff I like in Ryzom, so I'm trying to get back to Atys...

But I've always had a bit of a problem with my motivation, the "what do I do in Ryzom". As we all know, the game has no real questing to lead the player through the game, Ryzom is all about what the player decide to do (which usually requires a bit of imagination). Currently I'm just wandering about in the woods, which leads to nowhere really. I think I need a proper goal to fully enjoy the game again.

So, I'm curious about what goals you have for your characters. If any?

Don't hit 250 anytime soon

make a new friend every day or get to know someone a little better each day :p

make a lot of noise and see how many people i can get to lighten up and have fun

help homins reach their goals

streak through yrkanis once a week

Teach a young homin how to do something new

Spend more casual time in places OTHER than the desert.... right...

convince everyone that SunCe isn't ALL THAT BAD

get more of my crafts up so i can be more helpful to other players

Hit 225 in every skill possible :p

will throw up more as i think of em, those are what came to mind for me , in that order :p

That's the one I enjoy most. Like helping Sygma get his "Master of the Blade" title so he would match his "Mistress of the Blade" at their wedding. That was fun! And I dinged a few times myself in various skills.

But to add to NB's excellent list (all of which are very worthy):

Find a place I've never seen before and take screenshots.

Learn something about a mob's abilities or behaviors.

Follow NPCs around to see what they are up to.

Work on increasing my fame with various tribes or races. (Lookie, missions!)

Go around looking for homins and randomly heal them.

Play with stanzas to see how things work.

Shoot gingos.

pick a fight with someone. (A duel, not a flame fest)

OK, that's all for now, I'm gonna go play now.

I let my characters (what is logical due to their personalities, motivations, origins, beliefs, ideals, etcetera) set my goals.

Here you go, kuroari, these are my currently active characters. ;)

----------------------------------

Maethro (Arispotle)
As the son of Jelathnia and Haldir, he is instinctively drawn to melee combat and is motivated to improve his skills in it. He is also especially opposed to the Kitin, as the Order of the Dragonblades was, and being a stronger fighter would make him more able to help in averting them. So he trains his 2H slashing, 1H, and close combat skills. Not toward any particular levels, just to continue gradually improving.

Partially due to the influence of Kas-Dim-Ojin (who went back to the old lands and is mapping them), partially because he was taught by his parents that it's a good practice, partially just because it's useful, and partially because I keep losing all my map marks when tells get bugged and I have to delete my interface files, Maethro is apt to explore, scout, and fill out his map with detailed markings for everything that could possibly be useful to know the locations of.

This tends to go along with mapping: Maethro likes to challenge himself and increase his sneaking skills by traveling through high-level, aggro-dense regions.

So, in summary, these are my goals while playing Maethro:
  • grind 2H Sword, 1H Sword, and Dagger
  • make map marks
  • practice sneaking
But that isn't all I do while playing him, of course. There are still a few roleplayers whose characters he'd know. There are other skills he can dabble in. There are many crafting recipes and nuances that are not only outside Maethro's knowledge, but also outside mine. He hasn't done any of the rites, and I haven't done most of them. If the Ring was up, there'd be several scenarios I could make and run that capitalise on his oscillation between the old lands and the new.

----------------------------------

Tei-Jeng (Leanon)
As a Karavaneer, a recent arrival to the new lands, and a new member of the Argo Navis, Tei has a lot on his plate. He has yet to discover exactly how he can serve Jena and his guild, so he trains everything in a somewhat scatterbrained manner. He's unfamiliar with these places and customs, and since he came from a tribe that spoke a different dialect, he has a whole language to learn (though, fortunately, many of the homins he's met do know some amount of his dialect since it's also spoken in Silan). He's only met a few of his guildfellows thus far and looks forward to meeting more. His map is pretty empty; there are many places he has yet to see, and many teleports he has yet to collect. Having lived without combat skills for 20-30 years in the old lands, he's adept at sneaking; this is both a blessing and a curse, because he can travel without asking for help but has great difficulty becoming competent in combat.

In summary:
  • learn German
  • meet more Argo Navis members
  • meet more roleplayers
  • attend outpost battles
  • get into FvF tag PvP
  • figure out which skills to focus on
  • work on those skills
  • increase Karavan fame so Tei can visit Karavan temples
  • visit a Karavan temple regularly
  • increase Matis fame to signify Tei's residency in Yrkanis, his kinship with the Matis in Jena-worship, and to get better merchant prices
  • continue increasing Karavan fame so Tei can officially join their faction
  • maximise Karavan fame
  • explore, to add to Tei's geographical knowledge, and make map marks along the way
  • collect teleport pacts and respawn points
  • earn dappers so Tei doesn't have to accept gift money again
  • buy an apartment in Yrkanis
----------------------------------

Jelathnia (Arispotle)
Though she spends most of her time in the old lands with Kas-Dim-Ojin, Jel occasionally returns for a few days. During these times she catches up with whichever friends remain, and might incidentally work on a skill or two.
  • talk to Marelli, Zyratuan, Xyrana, Shylan, Drakfot, and anyone else she knows who happens to be around and awake when she is
  • finish the few levels that remain before Mistress of the Blade and Master Forest Forager...or maybe just get both to 249 and stop forever :D
  • work on 2H Range Fight -> Autolauncher, which is something Jel has wanted to do ever since Kas got into it
  • appreciate the lack of real death in the new lands
  • forage, because it's relaxing
  • decrease Slavers fame by slaughtering them
----------------------------------

General and/or OOC goals:
  • take lots of screenshots, especially interfaceless TGAs of examples of how gorgeous Ryzom is (I already have 36,637 screenshots in 136 folders, weighing 32.2GB in total)
  • see new things, learn new things...I still do, every day
  • help people
  • shop in Dyron, Natae, Min-Cho, and Avendale to collect excellent and supreme materials for craft experimentation

Find amazing recipes with excellent grade mats (supreme is easy)

Craft Q250 shields and bucklers (aside from the free Tryker overcraft)

Be a formidable combatant in all forms of PvP without ever leveling elemental or 2H melee far.

Find new and interesting outfit combinations.

Seduce Prince Stevano and become future queen of the Matis Kingdom. (Should be easy with Aajolea on vacation- come back, I need the competition!)

Continue to revise and improve my fine-grade color armor recipes.

Share just enough knowledge with others who have questions to help them discover answers for themselves.

Every now and then aggro 20 psykopla outside Natae and just sit and watch the fireworks.

Try to put the Shielding skill to good use.

Make regular shopping trips to Dyron, Avendale, and Natae looking for nothing in particular. OK, even Min Cho sometimes.

Trek often enough I don't forget how to navigate Heretic's Hovel.

Work on ensuring all homins have at least one set of medium armor in their wardrobe!
