Ryzom fails to start

After installing the client successfully, I can't seem to get the game to run. Each time I try, I am brought back to the client install/repair window and it finishes succcessfully and says 'the client has been installed successfully'. At this point I check the box to launch Ryzom and click 'finish'. Nothing happens. No error message, no new window appears - nothing - the client just closes.

i am currently running no firewalls, have not enabled any antivirus software, and have updated drivers for my 7900GT. I am running windows XP pro SP2. Can anyone help me with this problem?

go to "c:\program files\ryzom" directory (default directory where ryzom installs) and launch client_ryzom_rd.exe from there... if it's present.
if works, then remove all ryzom icons from desktop and make new one to launch that file.

if there is files in unpack folder, then i'd suggest restart windows and then move *.exe and *.dll and client_default.cfg files from unpack to main ryzom folder (c:\program files\ryzom), then rename unpack folder something like unpack.old and try client_ryzom_rd.exe again.

hopefully the client_ryzom_rd.exe is in Ryzom folder already and only desktop icon needs to be replaced
