depending on your internet speed to the servers, it might seem that it's bugged out, but actually is slowly downloading. keep it running for a while to see if there is progress, or...
you may also try unofficial installer
u.R.D.M (you need java for this and to make shortcuts for Ryzom yourself when its installed)

Absolutely brilliant! Just flies through the installation and also gave me a maxed out downloadspeed of 24 Mbit/s.
Deserves a bump!

I have tried the java downloader. It won't work; I keep having errors unpacking. I have tried both downloads from the ryzom website. One of them keeps giving me an NSIS error. I don't have my firewall on, I'm on Win XP, I have run my antivirus/spyware, I have tried deleting and redownloading from 3 different sites; ryzom, fileplanet and filefront. I'm not a computer genious, so I don't know anything about changing some command to another command, and all that hi-tech stuff. I've deleted temp files, I have no problem with my Installshield, and I have a download manager. I've gone to at least a dozen of these threads, and nothing I've tried has worked so far.
My problem is:
The Ryzom downloader is stuck at 21% when I try the partial install, and it gets stuck at 5% on the full install. Please help. And no, I'm not going to reinstall windows. I have 3 other mmo's that run with the Windows version I have, and they work fine.

hmm.. every single file gives that error ? sounds very much like uRDM_v1 (urdm_v1.jnlp or uRDM.jar) while it fails to download files. uRDM_v2 (urdm.jnlp or uRDM_V2.jar) is a bit smarter and only tries to unpack when file is present

(can fail too ofcourse when download is broken/corrupted or runs out of heap memory)

if you already havent then you need to modify C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and add
Code: Select all
91.121.7.176 dl1.gfsrv.net
to that file. (if you running vista, then search the net how to change that file)
after doing that, try official installer again. let it be "stuck" for a while. if i remember correctly, "counter" only moves when file is downloaded.. and if it's a big file (sound.bnp.lzma ~90MiB and is one of first files to download), then it may take a while (server side speed limit around 200KiB/s, sometimes less even, may be in effect).
also, if you havent tried, download
min-client, unpack where you want and run client_ryzom_rd.exe. probably does full 1.5GiB download.
.. but, change the hosts file first, so game does not try to access non-working server.

Sir, you are indeed a lifesaver. That one little command line changed the whole thing. This is not sarcasm, but indeed a genuine thank you. I have seen your posts in other threads, and would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for spending your free time perusing these forums and helping us hapless net-nerds with our problems. You are the man, and if I met you on the street I would unashamedly give you a hug (and probably a kiss) in full view of the public. Again, thanks bud.
