Ryzom

As mentioned earlier, Second Life is a good choice for an alternative place to reside, at least for a while. You can have a free account, and it's not really a game at all. Its a virtual world. Here's a shot of me in it: (I'm going to make a duplicate of my Tryker tonight.)

Anyway, I am going to make a group tonight called "Atys Refugees" and my name in game is Beauturkey Basset. I also have access to areas to build and hang and maybe do some roleplay!
If you are not familiar with SL, there ARE very seedy elements to it. As in adult, as in sex and stuff like that. It's easy to steer clear of...and while it not my thing, it does drive a ton of money into the game. (Over a million US dollars a day...)
Anyway, I'll be in and out of there and Ryzom filming and stuff. Please contact me.

hey just been in SL. I have land there not massive amounts...but we can start there at least and build. I have friends who are interested too. I am earthie Fimicoloud so add me. I think this is a viable option...not forever maybe but for now

I have an account in SL (as of 1 month ago) solely because I learned that the company where I am working (IBM) has 5 Virtual World projects including one in SL. So I jumped into SL hoping to learn it and perhaps move to a better job there (and get hired as I am a contractor).

Added you all and spoke to scripter friends in game...hmmm we could easily transplant aspects of ryzom...maybe mission led thing like the starter island but only once we know that Ryzom will be no more and until it can be maybe restored as a community run endeavour

Ok practicalities...or in other words 'p**ing on my bonfire'
To build anything the size of Ryzom we'd need 4 islands in SL, but don't forget that would give us the sky boxes too.
they would run at $2500US each x4 $10000
plus theres the tier costs of about $250
so we're up to $11,000
after that theres the cost of the developers time and energy...but once thats paid for (my friend reckoned $20 per hr per each coder)
the server price is zero!!!
Now some of that is course going to be volunteer time but from our sunbs we could do this.
I am not an account but surely this is doable
I am willing to donate my SL savings into this too...
