New player looking for a guild

Like many before me, I have recently discovered the gem that is Ryzom. The greatest achievement an MMO developer can have is to give a player the last game they will ever play. I hope I have found that here. After playing all last week, I decided to subscribe and head out to the mainland. I am not new to MMO gaming, having played SWG pre-CU, FFXI, WoW (most recent), EQII, and many others, but I am new to Ryzom. I have learned a lot in the short time I have played this game, but the lack of friends on which I can draw experience from is a severely limitting factor.

I can't tell you where I plan to go with my character, but I can tell you what has interrested me in past games. I am a light PvPer, but the occasional PvP outing serves to break the monotony at times. I have been known to RP from time to time and frequently enjoyed pen & paper D&D back in the day. Some of that has been known to spill over into my gaming, but a heavy RP guild would not be a good fit for me. The thing I enjoy most is the companionship of grouping with guildmates and meeting new players. Not WoW-type instancing, mind you. Some of the best (and worst unfortunately) times ive had online were lvl grinding in FFXI.

Again, I am brand new to this game, so if your guild is looking for an already well developed character then I shouldn't be your first choice. The community here so far is without a doubt the best I have ever experienced. Bearing that in mind, it will not be long before I can shed my "newbie" status and enjoy all aspects of this game. What I am looking for is an active guild that can make use of a lower level character.

Ingame name: Ikob (usually online between 0030 and ~0400 EST)
Race: Mattis
Faction: still not sure how this works exactly, but Karavan I suppose.

Thanks for your responses

Edit: sorry, I am on the English speaking server.

Welcome!

Being US based & Karavan happens to be a good mix since many Kara guilds are mostly made up of Americans. I couldn't pick one guild over the other from most of the Karavan guilds listed here. (except mine ofcourse ;) )

Good luck wherever you end up, as you've noticed most everybody around here are nice folk so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding some friends. :)

agree with Jayce, American type hours you`l find a bigger karavan army/guild presence, if you log in and play euro/african/austrailian/asian you`l find a balanced diversity. If you are serious about this game take a week, a month maybee more, learn the heratige, speak to atleast 5 of each religeon, enjoy chosing a faith cause its the most important thing you`ll do, regardless if you`re pve or pvp.

else ignore the presure, lol, else you`ll get 6 guild invites a day, save 100k, make your own guild, enjoy yourself, build up a friends list, then evaluate the situation after a month or two (may only take you a couple hours to really find your home, everyone is different)

check out the lore relating to your character. if you are still on silan, many peole will helpfully send you a tell. Instantly put on ignore people who mention the words "guild" and "join"

Very good advice there :)

If you get invites to a guild from people that dont know you, it should give you an idea of the kind of guild it is.

There are an incredible amount of excellent guilds on both sides in Ryzom, take your time in deciding.

Like your description of the game, as the last one you hope to play, try to choose your guild in that way, dont join until you are sure its the right one.

If you see me on, please say hi, and if you have any problems, let me know and Ill help you if possible.

EDIT: I see you have not chosen a faction yet, so be advised that you dont have to be karavan just because you are Matis.
I really recommend that you read the Lore before you decide, as it really does enhance the immersion you will feel in Ryzom :)

Thanks for the warm welcome. That is exactly the reason I like this game so much. Great advice here and I will make use of it all.

In the last week's ppl already come from Silan guilded... mass recruiting there... choose your guild, dont let others choose for you :)

take care and enjoy Ryzom
