Elders of Atys

The Elders of Atys is a guild coming from the Beta of the game, and rebuilt at the game release in September 2004. We are based in Yrkanis, the great capital of the Matis people.

Our guild is pro-Karavan. We believe the Karavan is the right faction to follow, as they are showing more actions towards us Homins, and helped us repopulate Atys, than the Kamis who seem to act more towards Nature.

We also have the Matis citizenship, as our guild is historically Matisian and based in Yrkanis. We allow you to stay neutral if you do not feel concerned by factions or politics matters.

We don't pretend to be a big and powerful guild, we thus don't plan to grow too big or at a fast pace. We prefer to take our time to create tight links between our members so that you can more easily feel part of "our family".

We usually invite new members ourselves, after a little chat IG with them.
However, if you want to apply, you can contact Crailus, Jayneylou, or Loggie in-game and simply say that you wish to join and why.
You can find our website here.

As an Elder of Atys, I am strongly opposed to have a partial guild associated with that title.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a guild of actual Elders of Atys, going by that name.
A guild that merely calls itself "the Elders of Atys" is an affront to the whole community of Beta testers, who may not even be Matis by race or citizenship, nor Karavan by belief. Of course every Elder is free to chose whatever citizenship and religion they like, but for a guild calling itself "Elders" it is facultative to be open for all races and religions, favouring none.

In my opinion, the title "Elder of Atys" is a badge of service and honour that no homin is entitled to award or give away.
Now I don't want to start something like a guild called "The Real Elders of Atys", as this only leads to ridicule either way, but I would really like to see you to rethink your heritage and your guild policies, and either reform or rename your guild.

Crailus clearly stated that the guild has its roots in Beta, is that not heritage enough? I think arguing "guild policies" is completely irrelevant, and besides I never saw a Wayfarer complain about the Atys Wayfarers guild. ;)

Anyway, the Elders of Atys are a good bunch of people, I'd definitely recommend checking them out... even if you're just a Refugee of the old-lands. :)

Elders of Atys is indeed avery old guild they have been around with this fine name as long as the game exists.

In fact when I fisrt set foot on Matis noobyland 2 years ago (no silan back then) The first person I saw was a player with "Elders of Atys" Guild tag ;)

They are indeed a fine bunch, not a very large guild but close knit and friendly and I can highly recommend them to any new players :)

Good luck with your fine guild mates ;)

I do not doubt the guild's roots, and I can not speak for or about the Wayfarers as I am not one of them.

In my opinion - and mind you, that is all I am discussing here - a guild with a name as deeply rooted in Atysian history should at the very least not dictate its members' citizenship and/or religion.

I do not have an issue with people posing as nobility in game, in fact they are due my respect if they manage to gather a court of followers, just to name one example. To me, naming a guild "Elders of Atys" and inviting people not based on merit, but after the guild officers' predilection is on a similar vein as people naming themselves "LordSomething" or "KingOfAtys" and the like, if you get my drift.

I wouldn't have any issue if the guild name were "Scholars of Atys", or "Erudites of Atys", or anything like it, but I do challenge the right of a guild to call themselves "Elders" when their policy excludes a part of the rightful title bearers, however few or many that might be, and wether or not any of them might be interested in joining that guild.

I have not personally met any of the founders or members of the guild yet, which are probably a bunch of friendly and reasonable guys, so this has nothing to do with the guild members themselves, it is based purely on the name of the guild and my conception of what it should represent and what it should not.

I admit to have remained silent when I should have voiced my opinion as the guild was advertised before. I do not know how many Elders belong to that guild, and how many can't or do not want to because of political reasons, and frankly, I do not care if they don't speak up.
All I care for is the image of how Elders of Atys are perceived among the homins, and I feel a guild representing Karavan and Matis ideals does not represent me, does not represent the proper image of all Elders of Atys.

I repeat, this is my personal opinion.

So I hope you see, to me this is all about guild policies. And no, "having their roots" in Beta is not heritage enough for me unless all of the members are in fact Elders of Atys, and the guild is open for every Elder regardless of race, nation, or belief ;)

Elders of Atys is a nice, friendly group of people, and a guild with deep roots on Atys. I'm glad to see you working to rebuild it. :)
