Ryzom

Help noob wants to play! I am not very computer literate so bear with me

Downloaded client through the help section (dl'er does not want to work, it just sits at 0% forever then freezes up.)

Now what? Clicking the Ryzom shortcut button on desktop just brings up the dl'er again.....which of course freezes up again...see the cycle here.

About to give up and go back to Wow this is sooooooo frustrating.

Dont know if it works in WinME, but try u.R.D.M from this page. you need java installed as it's java app. it's version info is few patches behind official, but should still get Ryzom going.

At least ME is not supported. From a security point-of-view, you should get rid of it ASAP anyway

I don't know which one you tried, but you could try the other installer

• current slim package
• old large package

Works like a charm here, could it be a problem with your network settings/firewall/router then? Or wrong entries in your hosts file?

You could also try changing http://dl1.gfsrv.net to http://dl2.gfsrv.net in either of the above links.

umm.....its all greek to me. Don't think I have a firewall, no router

Ok, Have minimum files from u.R.D.M.

How do you start the game now? When I click on the Ryzom icon on desktop it takes me to the launcher which in turn goes right back to the original downloader.

you may as well get the Silan (or full if you have time/fast net) (enable 10 download threads for max speed

if you tried Ryzom official installer, then desktop icons are from that. uninstall or delete those icons (and then "c:\program files\ryzom" folder too).

uRDM probably installed Ryzom under "c:\windows\Ryzom" if you didnt change it (you can move entire Ryzom folder to different place if you want, like c:\).
go to Ryzom install directory and you'll find client_ryzom_rd.exe, make shortcut to desktop (and there is also ryzom_configuration_rd.exe, make shortcut to desktop too).
run client_ryzom_rd.exe, Ryzom should run and will display login screen.
if you get that far.. gl with patching
