I am new here and am curious as to the condition of this game. I have spent the majority of my recreation time this week working on the multiple patches, reinstalls, failures, and repairs of Ryzom.
I consider the free time I have to be important and do not want to spend it working on something that is supposed to be fun. Has this week been an example of the difficulties of a standard patch week? I am very close to canceling my paid account and going back to others that will work without me spending large amounts of time on their set up and repair.

Heya Omni and welcome to the community
I ve been playin for quite a while now and this is the first time (IIRC) I see devs degrading version after patching. So no this wasn't a usual patch week

.
I also encountered trouble with one of my clients and it also got on my nerves as, just like you said, free time is very precious to most of us.
Anyway we all know crap happens and we gotta live with that haven't we

Hi Omnica,
Like Moyaku said, this has not been a usual week. Normally there are hardly problems with the server or the client, and patches have been quite smooth in the past.
I think this week was just a lot of bad luck...

This is the French we're talking about. Weekly if not daily!

Thank you for the replies, it is good to know that this week is not a standard condition.
But with the multiple patches that have failed to download and the available solution has been to use the repair option. The solution generated by the repair option seems to be to download the game again, which takes multiple hours for some unknown reason (generally I go to bed and see what news the next day brings after the download, a DSL connection should work faster). I am currently working through being told by the system that the game has installed correctly and when I select yes I want to play Ryzom (Lord knows from the effort input so far I would love to see a reward) Windows Vista comes back and tells me that the downloader has closed and the game will not start. Now I do find that somewhat amusing, since the downloader should stop since I am being told that the game has succesfully installed, however, trying to start the game just restarts the downloader and the loop continues.
I will try to remove Ryzom from my machine and start over, unless there is some silly setup that Ryzom has that is trying to help my download by stopping me from removing it completely from my system first.
((And to the others I have no interest in recieivng anything from the owners of Ryzom for the difficulties encountered. I do understand that sometimes things collapse unexpectedly, I was just looking for confirmation that this is not a regular occurance.))

Ah, Vista you say. Well not sure if this will help or not but Ryzom and Vista arn't always too friendly.
Make sure your user account has full permissions to read/write to the directory where you are installing Ryzom, hope that helps. =)
If not, might I suggest getting help on
Klients. =)

I have only had Vista for around 4 weeks on this new machine and I am starting to believe that there is going to be a special level in Hades for its designers.
I am not sure what genius decided that setting up as a sole user and administrator on this system caused it to think I was 2 different people. Although it denied many of them, perhaps setting the read write permissions to me as a user will work.

I use Vista with UAC disabled and admin rights... no problems with the game (other than video settings not saving). All patches are seemless and no problems with anything. Before I got this new WS monitor, I could have said I had no problems... the new video settings are my only crutch.

I use Vista with UAC enabled, running ryzom on my normal account, and don't have any problems either
