RP announcement here:

The race of the fear-year

The thread in Saga is for entering the race and for RP posts, this thread will be to discuss the rules OOC :)

This is something I have wished to organize since a very long time so here we go:

THE PR GvG MEKTOUB RACE....

The itinerary Edit: Itinerary changed as Umbra far too easy :)

Starting point: Knoll of Dissent OP near PR spawn.
-Entrance to Ichor
-Nexus
-Wasteland Portal to Nexus
-Through FD in WL (by demons lap and kara TP)
- Exit to zorai lands
Finishing line: OP in north of Void near PR spawn

Rules:

- Guild vs Guild race and one racer with mount per guild... (announcement of the racer of each guild on the Saga Forum: lil bit of RP will not hurt anyone :) )
Open to all, for solo guild or non guilded players, mixed teams can be formed and the team will represent the guild of the solo guild...

- This is a full PvE event so no PvP allowed in Nexus: PvE survival team event, not PvP :)

- The nominated racer can not unmount or the team will be disqualified (Edit: Except at portals in presence of a referee to change region with the mount on follow)

- Guildees of the racer team him and take care of clearing the way for their racer. (guilds can have 2 team to clear the way).

- No aggro pull allowed: u get your mob u finish it (THEM) (fear will not be considered as aggro drag) :)

Referees:
Homins who do not wish to attend can register as referees.. In case not enough referees, participating guild will name one of their guildee as referee.

One referee will be teamed by all participant guild IN the team of the racer.
- Up to the referee to help or just follow.
- Referee MUST be healed and kept in the team: all teams must pass portals with racers and referee for qualification at the check points...

Some referees will be placed at the check points:
- Portal south of Ichor to Nexus
- Portal south of Nexus to WL.
- Demons lap in FD
- Kara TP in FD.
- Portal to Zorai Wastelands
- Finish line at OP in VOID near north PR portal :)

Rewards and entrance fees

Entrance fees: 2 Millions dapper per guild.

Rewards: Hoping for some more rewards to come in:

-100% of the entrance fees will be reversed to the winner racer.
- 1 Axe Sup q250 100-91 speed.
- 1 Pike Sup q250 100-91 speed.
- Any other q200-210 weapon to be chosen by the winner.
(Plans for those weapons to be chosen by the winner...)
- 1 pair of amps q250 97/97: If I can push my craft to there (most likely only 10 lvls to go)
- 5 Stacks of cats q200

Timing:
I plan to make that on a Saturday, around 4 PM GMT in 4 to 6 weeks as it

Will be 23.00 for me
Will be afternoon for Europe.
Will be early-late morning for USA.

So might get the maxi coverage :)

Do not hesitate to discuss rules and send suggestions to improve the event .

Personal comment: I am SO looking for that event: cant wait to see a lot of guilds running at the same time through Ichor, Nexus and Wastelands ....

If this is a success, racers may have another opportunity for a second leg in the future....

Hmm, if I remember correctly, you need to unmount when you want to pass a portal.

If all portals have a referee, the mounted person can unmount as they pass then mount again and continue.

I kind of fail to see the point of the mounted racer? I'm fairly sure a master melee in heavy armor on a mount could just race that entire route in one piece without needing a team to clear the way for them. The team would just hold them back.

But, a referee must be taken along, which does require a team to clear the way. So this basicly comes down to escort-the-referee for the team, and the mounted racer just rides along and enjoys the scenery? :)

That is the reason the referee is here indeed: to allow the maximum of players to participate...
I kinda fail to see the point of doing a race with no risk as any 250 melee with good parry armur and shield could run it solo at nearly no risk providing he has enough food for his mount...

The two things I enjoyed the most in my years on Atys:
- Trekking
- PR team expeditions.

I think that could be the perfect opportunity, could even use it with a second team to trek some new players from Yrk to Zorai so 2 birds one stone: they participate and get to enjoy some fun, they can be trek around WL which is unusual...

Taking into considerations post aboves (thx Trini and Faa for your input), yes, referees will be present at portals so unmounting will be allowed to go through portals..

Edit: Concerning Itinerary, if FD seems to hard as not a lot of diggers seems to go there, we could just make a check point at Midway point in central WL (awaiting your comments on this)

Thank you Zepth for your input :)

It is still a race but it has been renamed to fit the spirit of the event...
The goal is not to be the first but to clear the way for the team...

Hope we will see a lot of aggros for everyone's pleasure :)

Now We could get rid of the referees INSIDE team, if we have enough referees at all TP on the way : was just a precaution to make sure no team TP for example from nexus portal to LoC kami with a new mount awaiting there :)
In case of spectators, I would prefer them to be on the race track than waiting at empty TP to make sure all is fair .... (maybe I am too suspicious in which case sry :) )

But I still want All the TEAM to make it, not only the racer :)

Forgive me, I was in a hurry and didn't type all I should have.

For one I left out the: Yay! More events! :D

Seriously, I love the idea of a team escort race through the Prime Roots. My point was only that if the purpose of the event was to get the mounted racer to the finish, then there isn't a point for a team. If the purpose was to get your entire team through, then there's no reason to have a mounted racer.

I wasn't sure which one it was then. So the goal is to get the entire team through, so why does there have to be a racer? A mounted person can't really do anything for the team, so they'd just kind of ride along and feel useless. :o

Hehe, ok,..
What about the idea of Escorting the packer itself (or the mount) without riding it... (could find a RP reason for that: i have been told that in their common fight against the Goo: the kara would like some test items to be send to the Zorai Kami to experiment on the Goo there: unfortunatly those items are very unstable and would not stand any teleporting action....)

So each team has a packer on follow and needs to escort it From KoD to Void OP? :)
