DoTs

Just out of couristy who has experimented with them and realize they are bugged? I would like to see GF maybe spending some time and see what they may need to do fix the bug with their damage not being effected by amps... And please GF dont tell me they are working perfectly fine.... Please fix them and give nukers a few more options in battle :)

Why do you say that's a bug... makes perfect sense to me since DoTs are Damage over Time and not a single hit. *shrug*

Plus why would the power stat affect damage on a "DoT" ele spell and not the sapdrain like it does on an affliction spell?

I see it as a bug cause it makes dots basically ineffective... 1500 damage over 4 secs? That isnt crap when you can cast a nuke for 3k in 1.6 secs... Also a damage over time is still a damaging spell so i would expect that the elemental power would effect the damage... on afflictions there is no damage done at all so the only thing power could be used for is to reduce the sap cost of holding the link...

Basically i was trying to bring a bit of light to this and hoping some people might support a change to dots for they would be effective to use sometimes... Currently the role of a nuker is very cookie cutter... Spam a double nuke over and over.

I think u have a good point in saying ampstats should affect DOT the same as a nuke.

With lvl 250-spells, no amps and 2700 sap:

Drain spell (Max hp credit):

Total dmg - 10500
Total casting time - 30,8 sec
Hp and sap lost - 425 hp, 2700 sap

Double ele spell (Max hp, sap, range and 20 time credits):

Total dmg - 9000
Total casting time - 19,2 sec
Hp and sap lost - 2700 hp, 2700 sap


I don't think the drain spells need to be fixed.
(To keep a drain link active in 30 sec would probably need some concentrate and luck too :P )

If comparing DoT's vs NON-DoTs, I would DEFINATELY use single nukes, because the time to do more dmg then DoTs is still lower, AND use less stats... just for your info, the double nukes use 20% more.
So a single nuker is more effective then DoTs, so yeah, they REALLY need to be looked at bad.....

Pluss, a person nuking you... not a chance youll last 30 seconds...... Think about that too.

2ndly: The whole thing here is, WITH amps nukes are more efficient... with amps. DoTs arent....
Oh whoops? Maybe anyone whos wearing an amp will beat the **** out of a DoT wielder?......

With respect, Jable, Biskibis was pointing out mainly the fact that amps do not amplify the continuous damage of a drain spell. Unless I misunderstood.

He's right, as someone who soloings agro in PR while they are killing herbs i have a hell of alot of practice too ;)
Single nukes fast with no time credit, max range will run out of stats long before a great vorax is killed, personally i think its stupid that DoT isnt effected by amps, if it would be changed i would recommend DoT spells work in the same way as mob ones, ignoring all obsorbs on jewels, might even make it a worth while skill then.

His double ele stanzas were only set that way to be able to compare to the DoT in damage (to get highest achievable damage). No sane person uses that set up in pvp or pve.

Multiple and faster attacks is alright, but don't forget as Spriteh pointed out, each attack can be resisted for single and double spells, which means you can as well be wasting your stats versus an opponent with really good pvp jewels. Low cost DoT's just need to link once, and you're toast. As far as the theoretical side goes at least.

On the no stat boost by amps for DoT's; they might just work like afflictions instead of elemental power.

Eitherway, I've seen both have it's uses so far. :p

As for DoT spells linking they resist just as often as any spell when they first hit, then every 4 seconds (1500 damage) the spell can be resisted again, main use ive had for DoT is soloing muncham (not a sport i enjoy) and if you get one link in 5 casts that lasts for more than 6,000 damage your lucky (my personal observations)
