in the trial, if you look up in the sky, you see this huge structure in the sky. We ca see bits of vegetation on it. They look like gigantic bridges over continents.

What is it ?

Can we reach it (in trial or registered) ?

where did it came from (historical point of view) ?

why is it there ?

Atys, the planet on which Ryzom takes place, is a giant spherical plant. Those things in the sky are its outermost branches, called the Canopy. As Atys grows, the Canopy branches become larger and denser until they form a new surface. The prior surface becomes the subterranean Prime Roots: the uppermost layer of the planet's roots. The current Prime Roots are accessible, but the Canopy is not.

There is one place on all of Atys (not counting the Prime Roots ) where those branches arent visible.

The Nexus.

This implies to me that the Nexus is at the same level as the canopy.

Might be perfectly right tho as nexus is one of the places where u get the most fantastic views of the sky and the moons, would make sense if it is higher than the rest of the planet

I never finished that thought either. I knew Nexus had no branches over it, that's why it makes such a good place to observe the sky, but there's other places that only have some branches visible along the horizon and none directly above.

But it does make sense. The worldmap shows Nexus as being elevated above all the other terrain. Perhaps it was meant as a sort of semi-canopy terrain, a transition between the surface and the canopees. That could be why it has supreme materials and why it's called the Nexus.

Thinking more about those branches, I would expect homins to use them for navigation and our civilizations to have branch-maps of their home regions. If you'd know the branches well enough, you could use them to determine your position on Atys without ever needing to look at the map.

I can picture a Tryker parent and child sitting on their roof in Windermeer, gazing at the sky, and the parent pointing out: "Do you see where that big branch splits off into two? Right beneath that lies Fairhaven. If ever a Tryker gets lost in the Liberty Lakes, they need only head towards that branch to find their way home again."
