Does host keep character info?

I am wondering because I am thinking about moving stuff to External HD because I travel. I am afraid of XHD nerf, so who keeps the info, me or them?
The only things stored locally on your HD is client config stuff really. (audio/video, UI settings and map flag markers etc.) And screenshots ofcourse.
These can all be found in your root Ryzom directory and under the cfg, save folders. Backing those up is a good plan.
