If this error message pops up, WHY isnt it listed on the list of error messages?
Because that list is of general errors. We don't get many problems with the mouse.
WHY cant I find it anywhere?
Did you do a search?
WHY does my mouse (same one I have been using everywhere with everything) suddenly not work.
Because something on your system changed, whether you know it or not. PC's do that. If you bought a brand new hard drive, chances are things did change. First, make sure your mouse is installed correctly. Depending on functions, makes, and models, you may be required to use a special driver issued by the manufacturer instead of using the basic plug-and-play drivers. Make sure this is checked. Also, see if your mouse doesn't work in both Ingame and Hardware mode. Use SHIFT+F9 to toggle.

Best ever ;)

I assume you connect the trackball and keyboard via PS/2, not USB? If so, check whether their plugs connect to the respective sockets, and try swapping the mouse and keyboard plugs (do it when your computer is shut off, to be safe, you might kill the ports otherwise).

If you're using USB with an adapter, check that you connect via the original one, they may look identical but may or may not work with each other.
