Hmmmm..... the May 3rd patch installed on May 3rd.....then again on May 4th, then again on the 7th and then again today on the 12th. How many times does this same patch need to be applied ? And why is it different sizes for the same patch ? If it's a different patch for a different date, it shouldn't have the same "date" or other designation. Anyone else experiencing this ?
And slow.....wrote 2 forum messages and today the patch only half downloaded, and this on a 30 Mbps cable connection.
Other times the downloader just craps out and have to restart, other times error messages. I think this separate downloader process has some kinks....on my son's box, same issues but 2nd application of patch killed access. Had to manually transfer files from unpack folder. Am I alone in this regard, or is this common ?
EDIT.....just restarted and after downloading a 63 MB patch, I restarted to d/l a 9.5 MB patch ... just too weird as if same patches are being reinstalled all over again and again.
Third ...er 4th Time the Charm ?
Re: Third ...er 4th Time the Charm ?
Hm thats odd. I havent experienced any repatching, maybe the game is saving part of the patch to a bad sector or you have a intermittent failure on one of your ram chips?

Re: Third ...er 4th Time the Charm ?
i think the patch is to do with the coding to the outpost`s witch need to be fixed because everytime someone attacks an outpost the server crash`s out so the patch is big deal

Re: Third ...er 4th Time the Charm ?
The reason why the downloader re-downloads different sized "patches" on your PC is because the new downloader is also our repair tool. It detected a bad/corrupted file within the program and replaced it with a fresh copy.
As to the exact reason why you are experiencing this, I do not know as you haven't given us much information, but the most common reasons is either due to crashing your client or exiting inappropriately (clicking the red X instead of the Leave option), inappropriate user account privileges, system viruses/worms, or a bad piece of hardware.
Feel free to look around the Tech forums for additional information.

Doesn't seem likely. 3.5 years of Ryzon and never seen this behavior before....until new download tool. Hardware reasons are therfore unlikely.tydamus wrote:The reason why the downloader re-downloads different sized "patches" on your PC is because the new downloader is also our repair tool. a) No Hardware issues before patch
b) Happening on multiple boxes
c) Behavior exhibited only in Ryzom
There are no system viruses / worms. Malware is not an issue.
a) These are office machines with two AV programs, one is active 24/7, other scans nightly.
b) Systems behind twin firewalls with strict accesses policies.
c) Systems exhibit no similar behavior with other programs or even while ryzom is running.
The only thing which may be an issue is that running the downloader often crashes. I'd say maybe 1 outta 3 or 1 outta 4 times it opens it errors out and wants to send a report to Microsft. Odddly, the "patches" do not occur on next start.
For a hardware / visrus issue to suddenly appear immediatley after a patch is unlikely. Ryzom is by no means the most demanding application on our workstations. AutoCAD has that title. For it to evidence itself under only one program starts to stretch things to extremely unlikely. For it to appear on multiple boxes is well beyond extremely likely. To log in and have half your guild mates and peeps on your friends list also experiencing the same thing I think is pretty conclusive that we all only share one thing in common.
Re: Third ...er 4th Time the Charm ?
These are workstation class machines used to design plans for public projects using AutoCAD and other engineering software. We use SiSoft and other testing software monthly to test all hardware components and when "issues" pop up.naratuul wrote:Hm thats odd. Also upon "arrival" a check with guild mates and friends list has a good % of them experiencing the same thing, again each of them reporting the experience only since the new tool was added.

Have you tried updating the hosts file? Your patching may be problematic which would cause re patching each launch. Adding this entry to your hosts file should help with the patching issue:
