Let's first look at the rules that were to be put in place, for the server merge, regarding character names:
# In the case of common character name, the creation date of the character will prevail and the oldest character keeps its name. However, if the oldest one was never used, then the newest character will keep the name.
# A "Z" (or more if necessary) will be added at the end of the character names that need to be changed. I.E.: Jenazz. We invite you to contact your favorite CSR after the merging if you want to change your name within the boundaries of the Naming Policy.
So, when Gamic, a character who has been in Arispotle since Novemeber 2004, has her name changed to Gamicz, I would think it would be because someone else had made a character on Cho BEFORE that date.

Which is, of course, impossible. So why My character on Cho's name was not changed to Gamicz, but my character on Arispotles was is beyond me.

Did you forget?

Did you not do a test run?

Did you think that, perhaps, people wouldn't notice that it was done in the wrong order?

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has to get two characters names changed, because the order in which the names would be changed wasn't followed.

Don't panic, just send a ticket in for a name change.

What did you think I would do?

This problem has been escalated. No name change has yet happened.

I am not in a panic. No, I am angry that this happened in the first place.

Was talking to a csr earlier name changes will happen they just got to check accounts and make sure they don't mess anything up by renaming characters manually. Btw ,this isnt the first time renaming scripts have failed. Show some patience and they'll get it sorted in due time.

The markers won't be an issue, copy the files in your save folder from your name WITHOUT the "Z", and then add the "Z". Always keep originals until fixed.
