Ryzom

Hi,

I'm new here (downloading client now). I played Ryzom a teeny bit last summer, but couldn't devote to it the time I felt it deserved. Now I can.

So, I've seen a few videos and read lots of stuff about communities and cities etc... In Ryzom, do you 'buy' houses for your character (perhaps in a larger community or town)? Do you then purchase equipment (in one video I saw small windmills, perhaps for generating power, or grinding materials...)?

My g/f loves crafting and buying items to have (such as in Dofus, or furnishing a house in YoHo Puzzle Pirates). Is Ryzom the kind of game where you don't just better yourself skillwise, or in terms of weapons/armour etc, but also in terms of aiding your local community somehow?

You can aid your community by being friendly and helpfull to others as well as becomming a skilled crafter and giving out Stuff for reasonable prices

I sadly have to dissapoint you Housewise.
There is no real player built housing in Ryzom as of now. But who knows what the future will bring?
In the Ryzom Ring you are although able to built a small camp or town to "live" in or act out Scenarios. But only the buildings on the Main Lands are made to be entered.

Those Windmills do provide "power" to the Tryker Citys from a lore point of view but have no practicall purpose InGame.
The only things that turn out something are the Kmai/Karavan Drills that are set up on Outposts, wich are a source of constant conflict between the Factions, for everyone wants a piece of the pie

You may buy an appertment for your charakter in one of the 4 capital citys and use it to store materials. Sadly as of now there is no way for others to enter your appartment too, excpet for a sometimes occuring small bug

The main strengh of Ryzom still lies to a good part in its community and its spirit. I´m sure you will find other ways to contribute, then just to buy a house and set in somwhere into the scenery

If you like a good crafting system, you are right on the spot though.
As of now there are no Items for "daylie purposes" to craft, but loads of Wapons, jewels, armor and stuff and you will see, the crafting system is amazing
