A Sad Goodbye

I've spent a couple of years now building up my character Oneofone.
I don't think I've moaned to too many people about the fact that I've suffered from joint problems for many years - mainly neck and back.
Unfortunately, the problem has spread rather quickly to elbows, wrists and fingers. I've spent a couple of months exploring any options available to me but it appears that nothing can be done to improve the problem.
It's now painful to spend more than about 30 mins doing the mouse/keyboard work that Ryzon requires so I must move on to pastures new and find something that requires less intensive keyboard work (bridge is looking favourite at the moment).
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have gamed with me and made it such an enjoyable time. I hope Ryzom goes on providing fun for everyone in the future.
My sub expires at the end of the month so I'll be cancelling my account in a couple of days.
So, it's goodbye to Ryzom - I shall miss it.

Adjusting to compensate for health is never simple,
And leaving friends is never easy.
Thank goodness for skype/msn/teamspeak, as I am sure there will be many people who will INSIST on keeping contact with you.
Always sad to hear of health issues, but good to see you in good spirits.
Take care, and I hope you take only good memories from Ryzom.

Hey listen hang in there! I have tennis elbow very bad, to the point that I had to make my left hand operate everything, and then that started hurting. I used to go to physical therapy, and still I need to do ice alot if it hurts from drums or painting so much.
Dont give up! I know mine is minor compared to yours, but I got a great mouseball that works so nicely to take down some of the pain, and I have read of other devices out there that are wonderful.
Alos, I use all shortcuts now instead of the mouse, unless I have to. That has helped wonders too.
I saw a few devices from the coverage of the last GDC that might be of help, like special mouses and voice activation items, as well as point that respond to sight! Neat stuff!
I hope you feel better, and hope that you can overcome this to return to what you love! If you discover anything helpful let us know!

Beau's got some good suggestions there. Also, not enough can be said for making sure you have a proper ergonomic setup at your desk. I had worlds of trouble with my wrist and elbow from a more mouse intensive game and was amazed at the difference a better setup, a different mouse, and a mousepad with a wrist rest made. Best of luck to you and I hope your pain lessens soon.

A character never dies... I feel your pain and hope you can work it out. Good luck to you.

I didn't get a chance to meet you in game, but it saddens me to hear that you are forced to quit due to health reasons.
Here's to hoping you can return someday to a game you love, and that we get a chance to hunt in GOC! *holds up a glass of firewine* Cheers!
