PvP during non faction related events

After yesterday I just wondered what peoples thoughts were on PvP during non faction related official events.
Does/would PvP during these types of events upset the atmosphere and stop you from immersing in to it?
Do we want the faction conflics to always have such a bearing on other storylines or would it get boring?
Would implementing the ability for CSR to disable tagged PvP regionally during events be a good compromise or should we always be able to PvP when and where we want no matter what?
[ Discuss ] =)

Voted yes. CSR can deal with people individually if things get out of hand... they did it before under jolt so I don't think theres any need for changes now.
Unless you want to add a mechanic to stop people stripping off and dancing round the event characters too?

I voted 'no' but i think it depends wholy on the situation, if the event is a 'we love atys' etc etc event, then i think it should defo not be allowed. If the event was based on an upcoming war, then sue, why not. Its part of it. as long as they keep the chat channels free then i cant complain.
One problem is that people want immersion, they want to feel like they are there, for people to start killing each other, then that would become a problem for them. And well if people did start to complain i would like to think that either a) poeple would be understanding enough to stop or b) they would be booted.
tbh, its not hard to de-tag for a sodding 5 mins while someone gives a speech. is it?

We didnt fight while the speach was on..
I fired the first nuke 3 seconds after his last sentence ended, then I shout war and all hell breaks loose.
Thank you very much.

Disabling/removing PvP for an event is not a realistic option for 'live' events in Public places...but the follow up to 'random' events from PvP action can be quite interesting to say the least......

I personally would vote for a seperate event channel
that way I dont have to listen to spam, counter arguements from rp'rs,ppl asking event characters how to chat log.
they pvp did happen after the event and a little before. I voted "dunno" as I truly dont know, the whole "go dig some missions mats with a story" thing didnt appeal to me so much but I can understand the frustration of those who have waited so long for an event of sorts only to have it fall into mindless killing (again)
sorry peeps for my part in it however minimal it was. (i.e I joined the pvp long after event died)

Any action by a player that disrupts an event can be addressed by the CSR team - and this has a precedent - by removing the offending party to another region.
I'd say, we should be able to pvp in a region even if there is an event happening, but that CSR's should enforce the ToS and deal promptly with anyone who is doing anything, be it PvP, chat, or PvE to ruin or disrupt an event.
In other words "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

Not necessarily. If it's in character for you to go to such an announcement and start attacking the people listening, then by all means go ahead. I prefer the players be able to make their own choices, and if they want to bring the faction conflics into all the other storylines, they should be allowed to do so. It's supposed to be a living world, where all the storylines interact with eachother to create the larger saga. Just because a new storyline starts doesn't mean all the previous storylines are suddenly forgotten.
However, I would expect these situations to be handled in an appropriate manner too. What would you expect to happen if the king were making a speech, and suddenly people in the crowd would start fighting and shouting out for the destruction of the city? He'd pause his speech and sent his guards in to arrest them all, most likely.
If the event character just goes on with his speech oblivious to the fact that the crowd is doing more fighting than listening, than
that's a little immersion-breaking, yes

But that's as much the CSRs' failure as it is the players' fault.
Voted yes.
