Stuck while checking for patches

Today while trying to log onto Ryzom, the patch screen came up. The auto-patcher then appeared and was looking for file ryzom_00610.Idx I think. However, the patch did not load and the progress bar just stayed still. But, the program hadn't stalled as I could pause the patcher and the small rotating icon would change (or would rotate if not paused). I tried re-loading client but this problem still persisted.

I had previously, two nights ago. Downloaded all patches avaialbe and the game worked fine.

Anyways, after many attempts I un-installed and re-installed the game. Now there is a new problem. Since I had uninstalled the game and therefore any previous patches; it has to re-install the patches. It also has the old loading screen.

Now, once again it gets stuck saying: CHECKING FILES FOR PATCH... * then underneath that*

Getting file: ryzom_00610.Idx : 0 / 0b (0.00%).

I've uninstalled and re-installed the game now twice

*********************************************************

What I believe the problem is; is that there is a temporary storage file somewhere that thinks that the game is all patched up. But it isnt. I know that it has access to data that i thought had been uninstalled because when I start up the Clien, the LOGIN box still has my username in it. I think if I were to delete this hidden, storage file the game might then work again.

Okay, I've managed to fix the problem by switching back to dial-up... Now the question is- does anyone know why it won't work on my iBurst ADSL wirelss modem? :(

Can you play via the ADSL modem, and only the patcher doesn't work?

Yes, the patcher doesn't work. But the game won't load because (I assume) it's waiting for the patcher.

I think maybe the game doesn't reigister the ADSL modem as a connection for the net. Is there anyway to tell the program to use the ADSL connection?

what kind of firewall you using with your ADSL ? normally it should work just fine (as patching is like normal web browsing, just different port), but maybe your firewall also disables unknown outgoing connections ?

I too am having these issues. I thought it was my router, and so I disconnected it, and still I get the same issues. I am a returning player, and was hoping to get in a few hours of re-acquaintance before work. Anyone know what's up?

I assume you all have read the FAQs regarding the patch process, and tried this workaround, of course?

Yep, tried the workaround, but when i did what it suggested, the game stopped responding as soon as i hit launch. Restarted, same ****. this is quite annoying

I've been out of game for a couple weeks. Tried to play today and I'm getting the same problem as the original poster.

I don't have a line called "BackgroundDownloader" in my client.cfg to change for the workaround. After it hangs for a while, it crashes and says it can't read a bit of memory.

This is a machine that was working just fine in-game 2 weeks ago and nothing significant has been changed on it. So, when the workaround doesn't work and the error crash tells me nothing, what's next?

This was certainly not the smoothest patch I have been through with SoR... I "had" exception errors as well. I patched up (and got to play a few hours which was rare) and other than "no sound" it worked fine.

The only thing I had to do was update my client.cfg to "use" the "client_default.cfg" instead of my old custom one. This may or may not help you unless you had some non-standard files like I did. I did not change the background downloader setting.
