Decaying Rotting the game away :(

Post by ariaki »

With the current decay rates So bad main tanks can go through a set of qu 110 armour a day pulling and tanking. Mage armor is rotting even if they are not getting hit both are going through 2 weapons a day at higher levels.

To me this is a game killer Items are rotting so fast crafters caint supply them
try loging on and buying a set of qu 110 heavy armour.

Last night in our group we ended up with 2 neked fighters some on the secound weapon of the day and necked mages in the back on their secound weapon of the day. No No way do I see playing in such a bugged stat of the as being fun. I found myself today for the first time since beta started here loging in discust and peeking over at 2 big games due out to see how they are handing loot and decay I have to say not loot = boaring here and with the rot decay rates up so high it getting to seam like a job to log in rather then the wow I caint wait to get home to play Ryzom and se the world and fach new monsters. Now its like oh oohh no ex off a kill yes the weapon is rotted , necked in a multi pulll fight yes dead again. all I say is if this is not fixed and super soon ill be doing more then looking at wow and eq2.

Sad am I Just Sad.

When will game dev teams realize we want a FUN game not a lot of boarin tedious hours of mindless clicking on a class we dont want to play that we dont not enjoy.

One dev team did stat this though " we realise you all enjoy killing things and looting them" and they decay rates are based on a system where items willl stay in game intill the player has had 25 death or so thats ten thousand times better then here.

I really do hope they fix this but dont anything about decay reates changing in the first patch at all.

The horrid rotting decay rate causes things like this the crafters who like to craft are days behind and never get to hunt at all to keep up with guild demands and the hunters who hate to harvest are being forced into it.
IF we are forced to take a class line we do not like enjoy or care for doing it totaly kills the fun factor.

My questions for you are:

Is this the HIGHEST durability available for this type of armor? Look at the HP on the armor to find this answer. All armor has a certain number of HP, and not ALL armor of the same type/level/Qnumber is created equally.

Is this store bought or crafted? Store bought armors are made with BASIC grade materials, which will always be the barest of minimums in true duribility and even stats. If it is crafted, there are at least five fifferent material mixes that I know of, light but paper, heavy and high protection rate but not so durable, and ok stats but GOOD durability. I know on newb islands the thought of durability is not even thought of or brought up in item stats.

I agree that post 50, items degrade a bit fast. I turned 51 forager just the other night and my pick started a RAPID decline. (I had not noticed ANY decline/decay before 50. So it might be like NO explosions or gas before level 10, it MIGHT be a level dependant, NOT location dependant thing).

I crafted a Mage staff today for a fellow guild member. It took a good few hours to find decent enough mats for it to be useful to him. After giving it to him, he used it for a few hours, probably the same amount of time as it took me to get the mats, and on checking it at the end of his playing session, he discovered that it had only 10 hp left. The situation is kinda crazy at the moment.

Yes this is level 110 282 hp heavy armor best we have on the server.

The decay rates need to be adjusted. A 150hp set of armor is good for 75 mobs. That is ridiculous considering that 60 of them don't even hit anything but the tank. Find some way to wear armor down based on hits taken, not engagements entered.

Our mages are wearing out staves many times faster than they could possibly outgrow them. The whole decay system is just out of hand.

First off -- Try stocking up on weapons and/or armor, try joining a guild that actually SUPPORTS its members, and then try to provide a single crafter enough mats to provide weapons for the guild.

Currently I am issuing around 2-3 weapons a day per guild member (25 members) and we have no problem with weapons.

A little bit of teawork goes a LONG way in this game.

If you dont like teamwork, then start harvesting and craft the weapons yourself.

The decay rates make this incredible difficult if you have to supply a dozen tanks with Q100+ heavy armor which happens to wear out after a partying session. It seriously needs to be addressed ASAP and I know the Devs are working on a solution to it. Otherwise more and more people will find that hunting naked in a group is the only way to save their armor for solo or small group sessions.

And it is not just a matter of using higher quality materials, supreme armor suits wear out just as quickly as no name armor. That is why many choose to leave their good gear on their packers until this situation is fixed.

300+ hp on a piece of good heavy armor merely postpones the inevitable. The decay rates are obscene on everything not just armor, mage staves go poof DURING a group session and I have had to stop grouping in order to collect mats for a mediocre wand just so I can continue after wearing out two.

With the decay rates the way they are you'd have to bring two sets of armor with you and several weapons during a session which is ludicrous. Gear should last longer than a day after it's made.

I agree with Pandorae, something needs to be done to adjust the degradation to the damage taken.

I agree there needs to "some" adjustment of the decay rates.
I don't want it nerfed to the point where I (lvl152 forager) am put out of work tho.
My main concern is a bit odder tho... I keep waiting for someone to look over my shoulder and ask "Why are all those people fighting in their underwear?"

The only answer I can come up with is that the game is of French design and they want to see us Americans nekkid a lot.
That's a joke by-the-way...

I don't mind being nekkid a bit but for the love o Pete give us Fyros something better looking than the Fruit-of-the-looms we are currently wearing (the ladies) and the Japanese diapers (tha fellas). Cmon your FRENCH fer gossakes.

Just curious, what level were the players who wore out the q110 armor? What level creatures were they fighting? I know the mages have a bug that is from beta. Their armor wears out from casting in beta for increasing the defense skill, now that defense skill is incorporated into all the classes they need to remove that effect. Maybe this is affecting the fighters as well.

Since I'm assuming these people are using armor around there current level, I have to ask what level mob this group is targeting. What I'm getting at is that if you take a military issue tank, sit it at the bottom of a hill, and roll a honda civic down into it, there's not going to be a whole lot of damage to the tank. However, if you take an semi, load it up with a couple tons of concrete, and roll that into the tank...the tank might make it, but you can bet it's not going to be in as good of shape as it was before.

I only ask because I've never had any decay issues, but I tend to hunt in smaller groups going after mobs we can kill quick for modest xp, not huge for the whole 3k.
