Chasing the DING !!!

I hear about people hating the grind..so I thought I would share my grinding story since I arrived in May 2006.
Since I started Ryzom I have seen it change to new owners,
I have seen the starting Isle change from race specific..
Yes, I arrived on my own Zorai island and only heard stories of other races I would meet on the mainland.
Learning the skills were the priority and I had two weeks to decide if I wanted to subscribe....
Since then I have seen the starting isle change to unlimited play, then again change to unlimited play with a level cap imposed....
And of course in this time we now have the starting island that mixes all races together, It's no longer necessary to travel to the mainland to see the other folk of Atys.
And I believe that when someone leaves the starting Island it is now possible to choose which city to arrive in ?
I have waved goodbye to the CSR's who welcomed and helped me through the early days, to be replaced by new CSR's who strive to maintain the standards folk have grown accustomed to.
I have watched the Outpost battles (read PvP) intensify, the dangerous areas where I am open to attack have become more unstable, The "gentleman agreement" of old is being replaced by the message "traveller beware".
In this land of change I have learned to understand the weather effects on digging particular resources,
I have experimented and constructed my own Stanza's to benefit my actions.
I now have my trusty Mektoub beside me , (who stands a discreet distance from me for safety reasons), as I scratch away the surface of Atys to uncover the wealth of materials for me to gather and carry away.
I know what sells on the local market and have acquired enough Dappers to finance the most important aspect of city life....the mask tattoo. If you see a zorai trying on all the masks in the store, then you have found me.
I have run missions and started to understand the lore of the land..participated in some faction missions too.
During this time I have met many people who pass through Zora, some hunters, some mercenary, some are questing, some are trekking, some come to prepare for an outpost battle.
Whatever the reason they are all my target for conversation....
And I have met many good people willing to assist me in materials, dappers and advice.
I have seen friends leave, and new ones arrive.....Ryzom evolves around me constantly.....
The other night I managed to DING LEVEL 50....Now the skill branch has expanded to allow me to specialise.
Above are an insight into the experience I have had in Ryzom during the first 50 levels of 'grinding'....
I believe the higher levels are more exciting
