Visual Clues in Matisland

Hi!

I have experienced the frustration that comes along with lacking visual clues in Matisland. But as seasons changed so did the landscape. Now, in the winter, it is very visible where the nodes are. You can see marks on the ground that remind me of dead wood / insect parts. Dig here and you will find a nice node.

I am not sure what to look for in the other seasons as I have just found it in the winter. It is possible that the lush vegetation covers these marks. But I am hopeful that now that I know what to look for I will find similar signs.

Regards to all of my forager colleagues

PS: I often find nodes INSIDE of trees and bushes. Anyone know whats up with that?

*added*
Ok, Spring has sprung and I know more now. Yes, the marks are still there but they are extremel difficult to see since they are covered up by vegetation. Also, they blend in with the green of the landscape. But, they are still there!

Does turning OFF microvegitation turn these off too, or make them more visable? I spent three days in Fyros lands, I went to 30 forager and mapped three cities. I did the same thing in Matis lands, I was 5 forager and had emptied a bottle of excedrine.

The best I got from the people in Matis lands was "look around the tree" WHICH TREE??!!! *bashes head against nearest tree out of 400 BILLION in matis territories*

I am hoping that these clues are not like Fyros Freckles and certain video cards....you can NOT see them at all. On my card they look PINK and Green, like tiny pebbles dropped all around in a rough circle.

I would like to see this on a screen shot if you could please. It was be endlessly helpful.

hit 100 forest forage the other day, have to say all this time I've never noticed any visual clues mentioned - even in the winter season. I have several spots I regularly visit and don't remember noticing any clues on the sites. Micro at 100 using a radeon 9800pro. Will keep a lookout now though.

Tracking. It's purpose is clearer now, no?

Topic isn't about tracking.

Ok, back to the topic.

When I said the marks are covered by vegetation I didn't mean the micro-vegetation that can be turned off. These marks are covered by the grass-texture on the ground. From time to time it was possible to see a hint of the original marking texture.

The visual clues mentioned are a personal observation. I do not know if the devs used them to mark the spots or not. But I mentioned them to a friend and he found a lot of nodes on these marks.

Please look at the ground next winter (they were clearly visible then) and confirm/ deny that these marks coincide with material nodes. Look for grey dead wood/ insect parts.

After hearing about the fact that there IS a visual clue for the Matis *cheers and dances around* I actually logged on my Matis and LOOKED.

I was looking for anything, dried bugs, sticks, twigs and OH YEAH, there it is LEAVES. It makes sense, what ONE thing do the Matis have in HUGE and gross profusion...trees, bushes and grass, so that means they are SWIMMING IN....*drum roll* LEAVES.

I found the clue and tested it over and over. So far I found up to Choice nodes, some IN town.

Ok what does it look like...Redish brown Fall leaves in the shape of a lance tip (think two V's with points aiming OUT with a curve on each side). These are NOT oak leaves, NOT maple. These are TWO pointed.

Some nodes had ONE big leaf, others had two or three piled up, MANY nodes were piled up around each other. (which confirms my theory from Fyros lands of Node grouping).

SO while you can SEE these node clues in Matis lands....MAP those Choice material nodes for the crafts that you are doing. AND share the info, hoarding or hiding node locs is not helping you, you NEED others out there harvesting and crafting...they are making stuff YOU don't make, and supplying the needs of the rest of the community.

I tried, the last week I was in Fyros noobland, to TRY to fill the needs of as MANY adventurers as I could...I spent roughly four days gathering and crafting. And as fast as I made stuff and sold it to ONE adventurer...FIVE others needed more.

So the idea that if another player wins, you lose...it just does NOT apply to this game in the least.

When I ask for a Choice node location, I try to offer at LEAST one choice node location that the giver didn't know about. Makes helpful people want to KEEP helping (behavior modification is NOT just for kiddies folks, and it is not necessarily a BAD thing).

hrm, not sure from your description... to me what I've noticed [now in winter] are the things that look to me like insect mid sections :}

Although they are all over the place really..

If you are talking about a REDISH thing...I have seen it.

I have also heard in regional chat about other "clues" maybe the clue IS different for different material nodes...

I have found:
seeds
oil
sap
amber
fiber
armor shells
shafts

I have NOT found...in two days looking, nor could I get ANY help from WONDERFUL people in region ("If I tell you where MY node locations are...you will come and steal them" LOL it is a natural resource and until YOUR name is floating over it...it is NOT yours! AND...I am just stubborn enough to find it...and spend the next MONTH telling ANYTHING...including that passing YUBO where your precious NODE IS):

counterballances (SO..I ended up finding a dropped Pelvis that is better for the job than the foraged ones LOL)

I am talking about a spear pointed looking leaf, RED in color. Like a fall dropped leaf of I THINK an elm tree or a Willow...only fatter in the middle.

I honestly LOOKED for your bug parts and found NOTHING like that. Could be that you are talking about the SAME thing as me. *shrug*

I also had a few in region that said that they found nodes near my clue. Could be we are both right...I will look around for your bug bits.

****added after a QUICK google search****
Please check THIS site and look at the Elm, beech, dog wood or even ONE part of the Hickory. Same shape, only RED in Fall colors and larger than I remember real life Elm leaves being.

Found another link to a site with tree leaves like I am finding my clues/ nodes.

http://www.plantphotography.com/SumacTreeLeaves1717.htm

HMMM so a Sumac tree. Well the clues I saw were a tad darker but about the size of these, and SURELY the shape of these.
