Hello!

Post by birathen »

Dropping a few(many)lines saying hello and thank you to all the helpful people out there. I tried this game a while ago and didnt get it, now I know why, I didnt reach out. This time around asked around a little and by god if I didnt get help with everything I needed straight away. I even got help with stuff I didnt need help to do :P Never seen anything like it in a MMO befor and I've tried plenty. Love the community allready, love the game so far and absolutely adore the graphics(I can run it on almost highest settings without a glitch and it looks awesome).

The only thing that kept me back a bit was all these "Goodbye" threads posted by veteran players(atleast they felt like alot when I checked the forum right befor I dl'ed the trial) :( My advice would be to not post those, atleast not on the general forum, may get alot of new players to look for other games befor they even try this one out if it looks like alot of older players are leaving. Almost had me move on by.

Oh and how is the RP? From what I've gathered the background story is a very important part of the game. Im still new at RP but I love it so far and would love to get into it here, where the background story seems so interesting and alive.

Anyways.. I'll see you all in game!

Hello!!! Glad you are having as much fun on Silan as I am. ;)

The goodbye threads it's hard for me to comment on as I didn't know those people, barely know anyone else for that matter :p But I'd recommend just making up your own mind about the game.
I've never been much into RP so I can't compare to other games really, but I have run into a few roleplayers on the island and it was great fun interacting with them. From my limited experience there seems to be a lot of potential and active role playing going on.

See you! Well maybe which server are you on? :D
:p

Hi Lizia, welcome to Ryzom! It's good to hear your having fun. I can understand why you were put off by all those goodbye threads that happened at the same time and it was a pity to see them leave but there are still lots of nice and helpfull veterns playing *waves to Rushin* and you'll likely see a few more of them pop into this thread to say hi :)

I can't tell you anything about the roleplay here and espically on Aripostle but someone else should be able to answer that soon. I'm looking at you Jamela ;)

Weeee! Almost ready to leave the island. Thanks a thousand fold to all the great people lending a hand! Now Im facing a new decision. Where do I go from here? I've gotten a few offers for guilds so far but I dont think any of them are in Zoraï lands. I would like to go there as my first choice, if its not to hostile to new people, would hate to get bogged down with mobs I cant deal with and such. Is there any helpful guild in Zoraï lands who would be happy to take on a aprentice. If you have a homepage it would be great as I can read up on things and make a decision. If not contact me in game, my chars name is Lizia, so I can get a lil' info on the guild. Im european, from Sweden, plays alot and is friendly(most of the time :P ) although I can be a bit silent and keep to myself at times :)
Oh and I dont know how it works in this game with higher character joining up with lower characters so it would be great if there was some lower characters that I could team up with without experience penalties and such.

Zoraï of course :)

some nice guilds you might notice around: merchants of void, ryzing souls, the kami da, riders, guardians, lots around the jungle..

make sure you have guild names showing (can find it in the interface->in scene->friend/enemy config) then you'll see who's who.

The jungle is by far the most beautiful and agro-friendly land for new characters. The agro consists of three bandit camps and three areas (kipee hill, mossy scarp and the eastern zone edge) where ragus and javings hang out. The other creatures to watch out for are pointy eared homin who hang out by the stables in Zora and try to wisk young ones off to other lands.

The forest is also pretty, but there are gingos and ragus right outside the capital waiting to swarm over tasty young homin. There is only one narrow entrance to the 50-100 zone where you have to run another gauntlet of ragus and gingo, and then javing and gingo.

In the desert it's easy to maneuver in the sand around the agro. The winter storms are lovely, but otherwise the desert is mostly sand. Did I mention the sand?

The lakelands are all water and sand. The water is good to run to when you want to loose agro, but it really slows you down if you want to get somewhere. You can't climb out of the water except at a few beaches, and often there are agro critters right at the beach.

My one bit of advice on where to start is, if your intrested in crafting and have started it on Ruins of Silan your best off in your races home city because the crafting trainers in other races areas only teach that races crafting skills and you'd have to use skill points learning the base skill line again (weapon crafting 10, weapon crafting 20, weapon crafting 30 etc).

As for a guild, make sure to turn on seeing guild tags and take your time to find the right guild for you. You'll still get lots of help from other players without being in their guild so it doesn't hurt to wait to find a guild that fits you.

In defence of the forest, I have to say that it have very good harvesting spots, and thet, even if it's true that there are more aggro, it's not so bad... usually there are a lot of people here, who want help you and team with you. It's a bit more challenging, so it makes people more team-friendly even.

It can be solo, of course. My first 70lvl I was almost all time in solo mode, and Verdant Heights was my land of choice (Not choice in that time, but you understand me... :)

The true is that if you grow in Magestic Garden, you'll learn a great sneaking habilities, very useful in the long treks of Atys.
