Arispotle at least, and probably all the shards, have been taken down for a reboot/patch as i write this.
No big problem, except that they didnt bother to mentiont hat they would be doing this.
Nothing in news on the website. nothing in any of the game chats, no messags or information of any kind. Klients is virtually deserted and little info is availiable.
Even the server status on the website says up.
Why is it so hard to do us the courtesy of notifying us when the servers go down?
Nevrax always did....

Well hopefully they will learn not to do it that way next time. but not saying anything is not a good way to bring to thier attention that things should be done differently

With Nevrax we had crashes unannounced. Reboot for patch and a server crash isn't the same, and Nevrax (Jolt, really) had it frequently.
In your line of reasoning, blame Nevrax and Jolt for not warn us about the power outages at january 1st-2nd.
When you have some info about this is a reboot/patch, you can blame them. If this is a crash... well, that use to happen in all online games; and you can't warn because it comes without warn.
If we yell without reason, the reasonable yells will be difficult to hear. Please, some care with this things.

Just upgraded my account from free trial to subscription and wondered what the 'Error 10 - Cant connect to mainland shard' was. I thought upgrading the account had done something horrible to me connecting into game - now I know the servers are down

To faidbate: Cut it out man!

There are only 2 GMs and no SGMs at all now. These two guys are providing their services for free don't forget pls...
And if the devs see it fit to introduce another patch - that is done for your own convenience! They are just fixing another bug so whiners like you won't have to spam the forums with negative feedback...
Have some patience. This is still a transitory period and for FFS
HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE CREATED AND MAINTAINED THIS GREAT GAME!
Jeez...
*all steam out

It wasnt a crash it was a patch.
I would much rather they patched than didnt patch, but it takes about 30 seconds to write something in the news section on the website. Im sure someone at GF or one of the CSRs *could* have done it.
I'm not sure why you all are so up in arms over this. I didnt yell. I'm not trying whine.
But with the exception of Phelan's IRC chat there has not been a great deal of communication from the new management. Rebooting for patches without adding anything to the news section on the website seems to me to be a continuation of that trend.
I'm sure they are very very busy, but I feel that communication to the playerbase should be one of the highest priorities, not one of the lowest.
