My questions and concerns..

This might be a lengthy post.. just a fair warning ;]
I've spent a lot of time hopping around the MMO market. Starting with Asheron's Call years ago and just now ending my subscription with World of Warcraft. In between the two I've tried about every trial out, bought multiple games, downloaded the free ones and all I've been left with is the sudden urge to uninstall them after a few hours ingame.
I found Ryzom a while back and downloaded it. At the time I couldn't afford the subscription but I went ahead and played the trial (the limited time one). This was well over a year and a half ago and a lot of things have changed within the game. I recently reinstalled it and actually sat down and gave it a try and love it now. I really do. The crafting, custom attacks/spells, finding the resources to craft (opposed to say, WoW).
After maxing out everything available in the trial I decided I was going to go ahead and start my subscription. Impressed with the general gameplay, community, Ring is something that really caught my eye, the sounds, mood, everything of the game. But I come to the forums and I find all of these threads of people leaving. Granted someone said most of them were the previous CSRs, but alot of the threads look like regular players, as well.
I find myself stuck because I don't want to commit to a game that's going downhill. Not that Ryzom has ever been huge, but it seems the community is losing a lot of good players due to negative decisions and actions that the development team (or whoever) has brought on themselves. This is the very same reason I didn't re-activate my Asheron's Call trial; I'm unsure of the future of the game.
I know no one here can tell me whether or not the game is going to continue to prosper and expand or whether it's about to go straight down the drain. But I'd like some honest opinions from some of the people planning on staying if the game is still worth coming to now. There could be some people who are only playing for the community, for the people they've met, but as for me, I haven't yet established any bonds with the community and am looking at it only from a gameplay perspective. I find it nearly pointless to jump into a game right before it closes the servers.. it happened to me when I purchased the expansion pack for AC2 and decided to return to the game.
I'd love to be a dedicated Ryzom player. The community seems wonderful and I'm dieing to get to the ML, but like I said, the future (and what I've read) scares me.
